07:47 AM ET 02.25 | Excused from practice on Monday, how much longer will Ryan Miller be showing up at all in Buffalo? Though Miller was scheduled to return later in the day and start Tuesday, when Buffalo hosts Carolina, his absence could be something the Sabres will have to get accustomed to with the NHL trade deadline approaching on March 5. A person familiar with discussions told The Associated Press that general manager Tim Murray continues to pursue offers for Miller with the intention of trading him by next week. "Tim is testing the waters as hard as he can," the person said, speaking on the condition of anonymity because Murray declined to speak to reporters Monday. The person said the team's first option is trading Miller, who is in the final year of his contract and eligible to become an unrestricted free agent.

A very good to great goaltender that they're not going to get much for as a short term rental. Why trade an asset now if you have what it takes ($$$) to get him in free agency?? Unless he's the final piece to a serious Cup run, I just don't get the logic of giving anything up now.

Olies are over; and another Miller story.

Kind of a week market right now. Lot of teams will line up in the summer for him, but none of those teams are in a position for a playoff run. Should have made the move last year.

Basically any story the interns put up right now is going to elicit this response. So stop responding. What else are they supposed to put up? We're a week away from the deadline and this is what's making news around the league.

exactly.....

With Miller's luck he'll get traded from one hideous yellow jersey to another...hello Nashville!

Desperately seeking situation.

All for piling onto the interns like Phil Kessel at IHOP but not much else they can do right now.

Not that there's anything wrong with it.

Sucks to be you, Tim.

Sucks even more to have a NTM clause, effectively tying your GM's hands to get it done.

QUOTE(#1):

Of the current playoff teams, the only one who might legitimately require a goaltender is Minnesota.

Don't forget Pittsburgh. Never know which MAF's going to show up at any given time, especially the playoffs.

I heard Vokoun was returning soon.

Yeah that's the rumor that they've been floating. After all the time off though, its going to take a while even if he is physically healthy. MAF is probably the biggest question for Pittsburgh going into the playoffs. Besides the obvious one of whether Disco Dan can come up with a strategy to win a couple playoff series.

You better hope he left the Team USA playbook in Sochie.

What is it about Bylsma that he always seems to come up just short. (2009 being the obvious exception.)

Like I've said before, "You can't spell abysmal without a Bylsma".
