Eagles to cut Jason Avant

12:08 PM ET 02.26 | Jason Avant seems to be the odd man out in the Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver scenario as he's not named Maclin or Cooper and is currently eating up valuable salary that the Eagles can use in their efforts to bring one or both of their receivers back. According to Eagles beat writer Jeff McLane, the team is expected to cut Avant and save some cash. Avant wasn't particularly outstanding for the Eagles in 2013, so cutting him before his March 15th roster bonus is due can probably be penciled in as a guarantee.

Avant looks like a good player and that's it, nothing grand about him. Save the money and find another rookie WR.

Foles got lucky. I definitely do not see him having another season like this past one.

Freddie Mitchell. Jerome Bloom. Todd Pinkston. That's just off the top of my head. I look at more than just one year.

As long as they keep Coop.

How can you compare Andy Reid's program to Chip Kelly's?

Freddie Mitchell? He should thank his lucky stars for 4th and 22 in Green Bay.

Pinkston was a hot mess in Philly. The current WRs/TEs in Philly (Jackson, Maclin, Cooper, Avant, Celek, Ertz) are collectively the best that I can recall in my lifetime.
