01:50 PM ET 02.28 | When the Eagles' season began last year, everyone was pegging them a taking a quarterback with what seems to likely be a high draft pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. But something we unanticipate happened -- Chip Kelly's offense worked and it did so under the guidance of Nick Foles. Now, not only do the Eagles have a quarterback but they don't have a big draft pick to cause controversy with. That didn't stop the team from meeting with Johnny Manziel and thus the rumors about the Eagles being interested in him have once again surfaced. General manager Howie Roseman spoke with Phil Sheridan of ESPN.com to clarify why they met with Manziel.

And?

I guess they just wanted his autograph or something

Give the Eagles some credit. They know he will be released in a few years and they are just getting some notes on the guy now in case he could be a back up for them someday.

Over 18K comments, and 95% of them are about how terrible this page is. That's the epitome of boredom. Time to find a hobby, bud.

As long as they draft defense in the first round I'm happy.

Preferably a pass rusher. But really, every position needs help.

No one around here listens to anything Jaws says. He is a fool, was a fool, will always be a fool.

Jaws has a very similar opinion of Manziel that a majority of NFL GM's have. How can this little punk who suffers from affluenza lead in the huddle? Besides, Philly has a 200lbs QB on it's roster now that can't stay healthy.

Nick, your comment said nothing. Tx Heat was pointing out that the article had no guts. I was waiting to learn something as well ?????? and it never came. Nick, take your pic and go home!

Can't see him around at 21, so the points mute. What I don't understand is why? Foles has proven to be a first class talent in this league. They have so many needs on defense, that they should be concentrating on a safety or corner, and a OLB.

Roseman made the point that if the HC comes to have cookies and tea and chat about Johnny Football it may be a good idea to have spoken to him and made an opinion.

The significant comment in this d um b **** article is the following: "It???s almost a certainty that the Eagles will not get Manziel, even if he???s on the board for them, but the team is clearly still doing their due diligence." Delete "almost" and you've got the "T" part of "T&R."

Jaws is right: I just looked at the LSU game and he is NOT a first-round talent. He doesn't even look at the outlet guy who's free by yards when he's in trouble, underthrow, throws behind, etc. etc. The film is what Jaws was talking about, it doesn't lie, and he's right: Manziel is second or third round at best.

Depends on what type of QB you're looking for. If you're looking for a pure pocket passer that played 3 or 4 years in college, then he's not someone you're going to draft in the first round. If you want a play maker that can scramble and is still a little raw due to his age and having only played 2 years in college, maybe he is. I'm not on the Russell Wilson bandwagon, but there's no way he's going outside the first 3 rounds.
