Redksins owner Daniel Snyder and Vinny Cerrato have made acquiring an elite wide receiver a top priority this offseason, with Brandon Lloyd's departure an expected precursor. Team officials have serious interest in trading for Cincinnati's Chad Johnson should be become available, sources said, while free agents Randy Moss and D.J. Hackett are possible targets as well.

Well if they want a big name receiver then they have to make major adjustments on their roster. Daniel Snyder has brought in to many High priced free agents and trades that have finacially crippled the Redskins. Instead of building through the draft they went the other route. The Redskins have peaked out and are what they are. They really need to empty their roster and start over again with young talent.

D.J. Hackett and elite receiver? What about Javon Walker? He seems to fit in with that rag tag team of misfits - the east coast Raiders.

The Redskins don't need a big name receiver, they need a philosophy on offense and defense, and continuity in the coaching staff. Dan Snyder needs to learn that you can't buy a championship.

February 27, 2008  07:11 AM ET

Yeah, it's funny how Dan Snyder can make the Skins such a profitable brand while running such a mess of a team. Big Jerry Jones interferes in Dallas a ton but he has championships to show for it.

February 27, 2008  07:15 AM ET

If you can't buy a championship now, just wait for the CBA to get gutted. And who would not throw to their present receivers? Joe Gibbs was calling the shots in what was supposed to be the best offensive system on earth. Randle, Moss, I never heard their names -- Cooley got catches and that was it.

Cooley is big. Ergo, we need bigger targets!

Dan had to clean up and I think Zorn has approved this move. Zorn is the next Lombardi.

Dan Snyder will get an offense going. Dan is excellent.

February 27, 2008  07:15 AM ET

Give Snyder enough rope, and he he'll hang himself. The Skins need a tall WR, and they need help on the D-line. Why not just draft 2 great players in the first 2 rounds of the draft?

February 27, 2008  07:19 AM ET

AAARedskin,
Thank you for being Smarter than Dan Snyder will ever be. Overpaying for DE Carter and DE Daniels.....why not draft some Young pass rushers. They also need to do something with CB Springs because he isn't getting any younger and niether is Smoot.

February 27, 2008  07:20 AM ET

They cut Lloyd. We have to find a receiver worthy of the Redskins' tradition.

Lloyd was a disgrace to the Burg and Gold like very other player who came to rob the greatest (used to be the most valuable) team in the NFL or sports in the world.

Just ask the fans. They know.

February 27, 2008  07:32 AM ET

I would feel much better if the Skins would draft a WR like Limas Sweed or a WR like Adarius Bowman with the 21st pick of the draft, instead of giving up draft picks for players who only have a few good years left in them.

February 27, 2008  07:38 AM ET

Adarius Bowman is going to be a 5th round pick. He ran a 4.69 40 time.

Limas Sweed on the other hand ran a 4.47 and has shown that he has all the body control and catching ability that you look for in a 6-5 215lb WR.

February 27, 2008  07:39 AM ET

Go draft someone. Just keep your paws off Moss.

February 27, 2008  07:42 AM ET

Don't be suprised if Randy Moss gets a lot of attention from Jerry Jones.....

February 27, 2008  07:49 AM ET

We sign Moss or someone famous.

We get lots of nice pictures.

We sell a jersey to every sucker with ears.

February 27, 2008  08:03 AM ET

I actually feel sorry for Redskins fans. If Snyder keeps trying to build a team this way you guys will be the first to ever see their team not have a single draft pick.

February 27, 2008  08:09 AM ET

funny, a year ago, noone wanted Moss.
Now he's so popular?
You think he's going to want to put himself back in the same position he was in with the Raiders? or Vikings?
not likely.

February 27, 2008  08:13 AM ET

It's kinda funny. I remember when they announced the trade for a 4th round pick..........I didn't know what to think. There is no way a player of Randy Moss's caliber to ever get traded for that.

I also remember all the so called experts wondering if he still had it. I didn't understand that either. No WR could have excelled with what the Raiders had on Offense and at QB.

The Patriots only asked Randy Moss to do what he was comfortable with because they had Welker and Gaffney to go over the middle.

I always get crap from my co-workers who are also diehard Cowboy fans because at the beginning of the pre-season I told Pats fans that this was the best TEAM I had ever seen. I knew they would make it to the Super Bowl.

February 27, 2008  08:15 AM ET

Moss would go to the Cowboys if him and TO could get along. But they don't like each other so I don't think it will happen, although TO wants to win a ring so maybe not....

Also, didn't Patriots fans at the beginning of the year say that CB Asante Samuel was overrated and he isn't worth the money. Watch what happens next season if it is Randall Gay and Ellis Hobbs....

February 27, 2008  08:16 AM ET

I agree. Big names usually mean big trouble for the 'Skins. Past "stars" didn't work very well for us. The draft is the key. I think that Reed Doughty's learned a lot to continue playing free safety in Sean's place, so we can use that pick to pick up a good receiver.

February 27, 2008  08:17 AM ET

But then again, I wouldn't say no to a Moss deal, either, as long as it doesn't hit us too hard on the Cap or picks... which is basically what would happen...
