The Cowboys and Jordan Woy, who represents left tackle Flozell Adams, are expected to continue negotiations Thursday in hopes of keeping the veteran in Dallas for a 12th season and beyond. The club has not had substantive talks with the agents for running back Julius Jones, who wants a larger role elsewhere, safety Keith Davis, cornerback Nate Jones and cornerback Jacques Reeves.

Of Jones, Davis, and Reeves only Davis is worth trying to resign! The others are free to go with my blessings!

What role does he want? Oh', a role to were his knee is hitting the ground more often than not. No yards after contact. We do need to get rid of him. He is holding onto too much CAP space that could be provided else were.

Hey, when the 2nd stringer gets more yards and gets a pro bowl spot... IT'S TIME TO PACK YOUR BAGS AND GO TO GREENER PASTURES.. He's a good back but he is no Marion the Barbarian... Like they are saying the draft is deep with Running Backs.. With our two back assault offense, i believe we can find a younger guy to replace him with ease..

February 28, 2008  09:09 AM ET

Jones was a failed experiment... Tyson Thompson is faster then him, and a lot less injury prone... and the draft is stocked with RB's. Take someone in the second round (save the first 2 picks for the secondary), and have Thompson and the draft pick fight it out for the 2nd string position.

Re-sign Flo to a 2 or 3 year deal, sign Davis to a 1 or 2 year deal, and let Reeves go... then let him compete for a secondary position (most likely CB, altho Roy Williams couldn't cover my grandmother)... Reeves obviously couldn't handle it, and we need a good 3rd CB to cover the slot in passing downs... that and Anthony Henry is getting old... the more competition in the secondary the better.

Become a back up to his bro, Thomas! Then the Pats will lose to another bros. tandem in the Jones boys....

February 28, 2008  09:24 AM ET

i think this was expected, marion barber got most of the snaps last season so i really dont think this comes as a surprise to anyone. he does have some talent so he will get picked up somewhere.

February 28, 2008  11:12 AM ET

While I do think that it's time to move on from Jones I hate the way it turned out. He was a huge talent that got ruined by Bill Parcells. In his rookie year when he was running instinctively he had huge games and ran for 800+ yds in half a season after coming back from a broken shoulder blade. Then Parcells coached him up and he has not been the same runner ever since.... He should have been the Cowboys next great back and I wish him well wherever he ends up.

February 28, 2008  11:26 AM ET

I don't know why anyone would want this guy. If you can't excel behind an O-Line like Dallas you can't excel anywhere. He's not worth much at all.

February 28, 2008  11:46 AM ET

Good luck, Julius! It was great watching you your rookie season, you'll be a good runner elsewhere.

February 28, 2008  12:02 PM ET

Hey, besides the fact that he falls like a girl at any contact, he is an all-star! Too bad...he showed so much promise early on.

February 28, 2008  12:03 PM ET

Boy Stephen Jackson would have looked good as a boy

February 28, 2008  12:43 PM ET

Please don't bring up Stephen Jackson...As much as Parcells did for the Cowboys, I will never forget him drafting Jones over Jackson. And don't blame Parcells for the lack of effort Jones displayed. He's soft. You would think having Barber behind you pushing you, would make you run harder. But it didn't. Turn your playbook in on the way out Julius

his brother is better.
