Astros may rethink Clemens deal

A mostly silent Roger Clemens threw batting practice Thursday to the Astros' minor leaguers for the second consecutive day. But Drayton McLane, the team's owner, offered indications that Clemens's stint as a highly scrutinized batting-practice pitcher could soon be put on hiatus. McLane sat in a conference room at Osceola County Stadium and repeatedly said the Astros had to evaluate whether Clemens's presence was a help or a hindrance to the players. McLane was referring to an environment in which reporters have trailed Clemens from fields to batting cages to the clubhouse for the last two days. After 25 reporters covered Clemens's first session with the players Wednesday, 10 reporters covered Thursday's workout. McLane acknowledged that Clemens's presence could be a distraction.

Even in the group of pathetic idiots that make up MLB ownership McLane stands out.....

If they sever ties with Clemens then the argument is made that he is being viewed as guilty before innocence. If they keep him on, they will look at him as innocent until proven guilty....with a circus of media following him.

Bite the bullet and let him go. You dont need the aggrevation and negative attention he brings

I wager $5 that they'll retain him even if convicted.
