Report: Dolphins, Taylor to part ways

Jason Taylor and the Dolphins reportedly have agreed to amicably part ways at some point between now and the NFL Draft on April 26, Yahoo! Sports reported Saturday night on its website. There is no animosity between the two sides, according to the report. Taylor has privately expressed his frustration with the constant rebuilding projects in Miami, and he isn't interested in being part of another one. He also has placed emphasis on his post-career plans recently, which was reinforced by his decision to participate on Dancing with the Stars. Taylor's preparations for the show already have begun (it begins March 17), and his responsibilities might not be fulfilled until mid-May. If that were the case, Taylor would miss much of the Dolphins' offseason training program -- something that hasn't thrilled Miami's new staff, considering Taylor is supposed to be the team captain and leader.

You had to know this was coming.......He is 33. Parcells won't release him because he can get a 2nd or a 3rd round draft choice for him.

Look for the Vikings to maybe make a move for him. I would think the Vikings are tired of using first round picks on DE's when they can get one of the Very Best for 3 more seasons....

I hope he blows out his ACL on Dancing With The Stars, Gayeee!!

Come to New England Jason? Please?

March 2, 2008  09:41 AM ET

Good for him! He hasn't played in a meaningful game in years.

March 2, 2008  09:52 AM ET

Wouldn't it be great to see Jason in New England? AWESOME!

taylor wont go to the pats for the same reason zach didnt..they will always be fins at heart and dont want to go to the enemy and play the fins 2 times a yr

March 2, 2008  11:09 AM ET

Thomas didnt go to the Pats cause they offered him a one year 800K contract with incentives.
He went with a multi year deal and money guarantees.

Taylor on the other hand, is worth a multi year deal to the Pats.

i would hate to see jt leave, but just like zach thomas, all good things have to come to an end. with the nightmare of qb's in the last 9 years, i am still not completly over dan marino retiring. let's hope that this is a bad rumor and something can be worked out. remember, strahan was unhappy last year and look what happened. and it looks like he is coming back for the '08 season, although a championship really helps in decisions also.

March 2, 2008  11:22 AM ET

moot point . report is apparently wrong

ESPN just reported that Parcells was reached for comment on the Taylor story and Parcells says Taylor will play for the fins this year, unless he decides to retire.. so the Jason Taylor saga appears to be over

March 2, 2008  11:24 AM ET

not about money to these guys anymore....zach and taylor hate the pats

March 2, 2008  11:25 AM ET

south fla radio is saying espn is wrong..whether thats true or not ,,we will see

March 2, 2008  11:25 AM ET

broward, if Thomas hated the Pats, why even come to Foxboro for the visit ?
that makes no sense.. these guys dont give a rats ass about team rivalries. They care about a contract and the money.
