The Bears have made the decision to start throwing more to Devin Hester. Money, that is. The team has held informal discussions with Hester's agent, Eugene Parker, about a new deal and it will move to the forefront.

Heck Ya!!

March 2, 2008  09:54 AM ET

No way! They should kick the money to him ... then he'll make something good happen with it!

March 2, 2008  09:55 AM ET

It would probably be one of the few things the Bears have done right in a while. But then again, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Bears trade him away. Does Matt Millen have any influence in Chicago? The Bears trading program over the past couple of season have been simply aweful. But look to the positive side...they re-signed Rex!

keeping him is like urlacher...he's basically the face of your franchise now and he's going to be a hall of famer....oops did i spill the magic beans?

March 2, 2008  12:16 PM ET

keep this sucka, hes a BEAST

March 2, 2008  12:21 PM ET

Great dude from the U of M. They would do good to use him as an every down receiver.

March 2, 2008  02:02 PM ET

Hated him as a Cane (because he torched us!), but I love him as a Bear!

DA BEARSSS!!!!

March 2, 2008  02:16 PM ET

Something eerily similar with the Bears and Cubbies. They both like to "throw money'' for zero results !!!

March 2, 2008  03:29 PM ET

Let's see if he can become a primetime receiver.

March 2, 2008  03:30 PM ET

nascarzorin,

"as an every down receiver"?

You mean AFTER he proves had can consistently CATCH maybe?

March 2, 2008  04:20 PM ET

Blank Check

March 2, 2008  07:32 PM ET

they would be dumb not to

March 2, 2008  09:30 PM ET

He is their offense....why not pay him..

March 3, 2008  03:20 AM ET

Why NOT pay him?

Cuz they're best offensive threat is a KICK RETURNER.

That's NOT a good sign.

And because the Bears have holes all over the place on that team (at skill positions, O-line, etc)... and it's stupid to throw MORE money at a guy who's basically neutralized by simply kicking away from him or just STAYING IN YOUR LANE on kick coverage.

When he's proven he can do more (consistently) than just return punts - vs teams that are stupid enough to kick to him or that don't have very good special teams units - THEN pay him more.

March 3, 2008  10:22 AM ET

Hester will never be more than a kick-returner. He stinks as a receiver and just can't seem to manage understanding routes. Maybe he could be a better corner. Still, what else have the Bears got at this stage? Hester makes other teams quake the way the old 85 Bears defense used to do. And, sadly, he's the only Bear.

March 3, 2008  10:23 AM ET

PS Pay him.

March 3, 2008  11:53 AM ET

shynloco is right too many mistakes but they have a chance to redeem themselves by inking him for a lifetime contract now wouldnt that be sweet Chicago

March 3, 2008  06:12 PM ET

PLEASE RESIGN HIM!

March 3, 2008  06:20 PM ET

PAY THE MAN!

GO BEARS!

March 3, 2008  09:28 PM ET

Goldizzle,

YES .. you're STILL an idiot Bears homer.

How did the Bears do with him as the only scoring threat on the whole damn team last year?

Where did they finish exactly?

Tell us ... idiot!
