Knicks to court Magic's Arroyo

Though Stephon Marbury is not invited to the Garden, a host of free-agent point guards this summer will be, including the Magic's Carlos Arroyo. The Knicks inquired about Arroyo at the trade deadline. Arroyo was thrust into the starting role Saturday in Orlando's 118-92 blowout of the Knicks because their first two point guards, Jameer Nelson and Keyon Dooling, were injured.

Carlos Arroyo is not the answer.

cooool; Sign ANOTHER PG, and we'll see how many more buyouts will go on

March 3, 2008  11:21 AM ET

So Thomas is trying to convince Dolan that the Knicks are just a point guard away from being a decent team???? You got to be kidding...

March 3, 2008  01:04 PM ET

and what will he help the knicks do exactly.

March 3, 2008  01:12 PM ET

Another "What the....huh?!!" from the Knicks.

March 3, 2008  01:33 PM ET

Oh hell ya!!! Break out the champagne the Knicks have just won the NBA Championship when they get Arroyo....whoooooooooo. Isiah Thomas has saved the franchise!!! Whooooooooooooo....I think I might have had to much to drink

I don't mind this move. This is actually a good move. But they have to cut the other 11 guys on the team first.

I don't think its worth keeping much of the current roster. They may even have to trade Lee, Robinson and Balkman to help rebuild this team which is an athletic and contractual disaster.

Get rid of the overweight dead weight and start rebuilding with youth that has some athletic skill.

Just imagine what a different team this would be if instead of Curry the Knicks had held onto their picks and had drafted Roy, Aldridge or both!

March 3, 2008  01:45 PM ET

Carlos does not equal playoffs. Don't get just enough veterans to become decent because you won't make the playoffs and you won't get good lotto picks. Just stop making the news doing stupid stuff and instead just rebuild.

March 3, 2008  01:55 PM ET

The only good news for the Knicks is that in the NBA, it doesn't take many players to re-invent a team.

For examples, please see the 2007-2008 Celtics.

March 3, 2008  02:14 PM ET

Yeah this is a good move for the Knicks but a career killer for Arroyo. Don't do it man!!!!

March 3, 2008  03:03 PM ET

Yankee64 How can you compare Garnett and Ray Allen to Carlos Arroyo?? The Knicks won't be good until they build a team instead of a fancy car collection with HUGE contracts

March 3, 2008  04:06 PM ET

Please forgive Yankee64. He's not that bright. The Celtics picked up two game changing players. The Knicks have none. How in the hell could you compare them?

Another Delusional Knick Fan is in the building, folks.

If Arroyo is going to bring Knicks back to the glory land then why stop there, might as well sign Shaq and let Penny play so the Knicks can have a dynasty. Oh wait How about creating the next Dream Team and sign Sprewell, Artest, Stephen Jackson and get Rodman out of retirement.

March 3, 2008  05:47 PM ET

Why would the Knicks want an inconsistent underachiever like Arroyo? Wait, nevermind.... this is the Knicks we're talking about. Carry on!

March 3, 2008  05:49 PM ET

I just hope they can lock him into a max contract.........

March 3, 2008  06:22 PM ET

If the Knicks were to get a strong Point Guard and Center, would they not have potential? This might be a dumb question - I am new to the game.
