The Bears are expected to get a visit this week from Arizona free-agent receiver Bryant Johnson unless Johnson signs a deal with Buffalo.

Go to the Bills. With this pickup......the Bills will be pushing for the playoffs.

March 3, 2008  07:59 AM ET

Poor Arizona. One of their top WR's is hitting the market, they may or may not keep their top RB this season...and they still think two, half decent QB's make a single good QB.

Looks like another disapointing season for Cards Fans.

March 3, 2008  08:56 AM ET

if he went to dallas they would be unstoppable.

March 3, 2008  09:01 AM ET

the bears desperatly need a good reciever

March 3, 2008  09:51 AM ET

cards fans should be more concerned with the larry fitz. situation

March 3, 2008  10:08 AM ET

he's goin to Buffalo....

Ralph got off his butt and his check book and has made good choices. He brought in Mitchell and Stroud already

March 3, 2008  10:09 AM ET

Larry F. would be better for the Bears - or Bills - but acquiring Johnson would more than make up for the loss (if you can even call it that) of Berrian. Presumably that's what the Bears' brass was thinking when it didn't bother with Berrian. (That guy had better invest his money because he is not a premier receiver.)

March 3, 2008  10:57 AM ET

There's no way the Bears were going to match the $7 million a year deal that Minneaota gave Berrian, so there's not much they could do there. They do need to bring in somebody though, right now they have no receivers that are starting worthy.

March 3, 2008  11:07 AM ET

I look at the Bears and I'm just curious how anyone could take them seriously as a contender. The D is good, but the O is horrible. They lost Berrian and Moose, now they are trying to bring in a basically unproven third option from the Cardinals. Good luck.

March 3, 2008  11:23 AM ET

Thomlinson - it's only March. The Vikings way overpaid for Berrian. You can't toss dumb money at everyone. The Bears need a tough, over-the-middle type of receiver. Not sure if Johnson is that guy or not. Just expect Hester to be the guy who goes long now.

March 3, 2008  11:27 AM ET

Bryant is unproven? Since when? He was the team's 1st option until Fitz came along. He's a great #2 for the Cards, and could even be a #1 depending upon the roster and supporting cast.

March 3, 2008  11:30 AM ET

Berrian leaving gets Hester more touches - no doubt about it. It also keeps Briggs in a Bears uniform. BB will be just another could, shoulda, woulda WR who got taken down by the MN WR kryptonite. The curse of the great Randino, anyone?

March 3, 2008  11:35 AM ET

Hester is a fumble machine. He is not consistent enough to be a full time starter.

They got to keep Briggs. That is good, but still no WR's.

Bryant Johnson is proven. He goes over the middle very well. He is fast and uses his big frame like a TE. He has had a lot of big games. Arizona doesn't get to much exposure unless you are from Arizona.

March 3, 2008  11:46 AM ET

I'm a Bills fan and i'm also a Penn Stater so I like Bryant but i'm not so sure I want him in Buffalo. I'd rather they use their #1 pick on a WR.

March 3, 2008  11:48 AM ET

In my new mock draft I have WR Limas Sweed at No. 11 to the Bills.

This kid is polished, can catch, is 6-4 212, and runs a 4.47......He is going to be a good starter for 10 years.

Am I the only one to notice that T&R LOVES to change extra points into headlines? You read the entire story, then at the very end there is one sentence that relates to the T&R headline. Keep up the great work!!

March 3, 2008  01:24 PM ET

johnson was never a #1 in phoenix.....b4 fitz they had boldin.

March 3, 2008  01:39 PM ET

He better sign with the BILLS!!!! ASAP!!!

March 3, 2008  01:59 PM ET

Johnson would be a great pickup for a lot of teams. He is the best blocking receiver in memory, way better than Hines Ward. He has great hands, is big and strong, has good speed and can run after the catch.

INCSOC

I don't think that Berrian could block his own shadow. And he had the drops seriously last year.
