After five months of considering his options, former Arkansas quarterback Mitch Mustain officially enrolls at USC. He'll be eligible to play in 2008. With John David Booty in his final year of eligibility, Mustain is expected to push Mark Sanchez, who will be a redshirt sophomore this fall, for the starting job next spring.

Smart move

He's a crybaby!

May 22, 2007  02:39 PM ET

he was benched for no reason, I think he has a point

May 22, 2007  02:49 PM ET

This is HUGE for his future. With a team like USC, he can most certainly take the reins from Booty and in my opinion be the starter.

May 22, 2007  03:55 PM ET

he was havin problems starting here and he was benched because he threw alot of picks and he wasnt gettin the job done. casey dick was better than mustain.

He still has to beat out Sanchez...and I don't know if Carroll will listen to his mommy when his **** is on the bench.

May 22, 2007  06:45 PM ET

Not a big deal whether he come to USC or not since we have a successor to Booty...but "scbulldogs_09", do some research....he was 8-0 as a starter. Not sure how they teach math in AR...but in LA..thats pretty good.

GO DUKS!

May 22, 2007  09:36 PM ET

He was 8-0 as a starter, but all 8 of those wins can be laid at the feet of DMac. LA Boy, you need to do some research. Mustain and****' numbers were about the same for last season.

For the next year at arkansas there will be no QB. Consider the new title Handoff specialist. Maybe 2 years if Felix Jones stays for his senior year.

seems like a good move to me...why was he ever benched though??..youd have to think that it must have been for something very bad....we'll see..oh and ...karm...you country boys are always trying to discredit a guy...the guy was successful..out west..we call that HATING

i wouldn't touch this kid with a ten foot pole if I were a coach. with mommy and daddy nosing into football business, pete better watch out. especially if the alumni/agents are late with their rent check.

this kids' parents are nothing but whiney crybabies. watch what happens if he isn't named the starter when he can play again.

Let's see: a freshman starter in the SEC leads his team to eight straight wins. Is the SEC that week? I mean, how many freshmen in any conference have done that? Oh, but he "threw a lot of picks." Uh, don't most freshmen QB's throw INT's? Now consider this: in 2008, he'll be a junior, reunited with his WR buddy from Arkansas, have one full year of studying a pro-style offense in a system that repeatedly produces pro-caliber QB's, and be surrounded by some of the best linemen and receivers in the country. And let's say he still doesn't work out -- no problem. USC will have another option ready to go. Sounds like SC got the steal of the decade. It's such a shame that, from football to basketball, USC keeps putting the hurt on Arkansas.

May 23, 2007  03:42 PM ET

Of course, I meant "weak." **** fingers. Can't type worth a ****.

May 23, 2007  06:12 PM ET

Umm most freshman QB's can't hand the ball off to the Heisman runner up. And it's quite funny that Pete Carroll said he sure was glad Dmac was injured or that ballgame in Fayetteville would have turned out alot different.

May 24, 2007  06:10 AM ET

I don't hate Mustain, I just think he's overrated and way to spoiled. You USC fans just wait until mommy comes to california. And I will say again, Mustain did not win a single one of those 8 games. **** at football and I could have won those 8 games. All he did was hand off the ball.

Should've went to University of Tulsa. Enjoy riding the bench behind Sanchez!

Mustaine is a whiner. Parents are the biggest whiners of all. They didn't like that their money and influence didn't help keep their boy off the bench. That's why he's going to USC, parents. But a lot of Razorback fans don't care that he's leaving. I don't. Hope he takes his rich spoiled parents with him.
