Hull thinks 'terrible' Anaheim is done

Brett Hull, one foot in the crease and the other lodged in his mouth, repeatedly called Anaheim "terrible" while it was defeating the Red Wings on Sunday and moving into position to win the Western Conference championship tonight. According to Hull, Anaheim was terrible and the Red Wings will easily win tonight and prevail in a seventh game at Joe Louis Arena -- where Anaheim is 2-1 in this series.

Brett Hull is more of a loser now than he was when his foot was in the crease.Just as the gaol shouldn't count; either does his opinions. I'm a SABERS fan.......Lets go Anaheim

May 22, 2007  12:47 PM ET

Wings win tonight and take the 7th at the Joe. Won't be easy or pretty with hard hitting playoff hockey at it's best. Gotta love Hully for backing up his former team.

May 22, 2007  01:29 PM ET

Gotta love nothing about him... aside from his abilities as a player he's always been a arrogant piece of trash. Hockey's version of Barry Bonds. Too good for everyone else. From what I've seen of him on NBC, he's terrible and has no business being on TV. Guess maybe he should take Rosie O'Donnell's place on the view if he wants to make controversial comments. If the Ducks were so bad, what does that say about Detroit's inability to finish a game? Here's to the Ducks winning tonight and helping him shove his 'in the crease' foot in his piehole along with the other one.

May 22, 2007  01:33 PM ET

He was a great player but he dosent belong on tv. He has no respect with teams that have talent besides the teams such as colorado, new jersey, and detroit. He only believes that the dominant teams before the lockout can win.

May 22, 2007  02:03 PM ET

big surprise that you are a buffalo fan. the only fans in the world that still think that wasnt a goal. hilarious...oh and even though i want anaheim to win the series, he is pretty much right - detroit has outplayed anaheim all series, just look at the shots on goal and quality scoring chances. giguere has been a wall.

May 22, 2007  02:07 PM ET

**** Ducks. The series should be 4-1 Wings, and over.

May 22, 2007  02:09 PM ET

Like Father like son. i grew up loving the Golden Jet, until I realized he was an idiot. Then i see his son doing the same thing. Too funny.
Hully is loyal to his former team. That is why he should not be on TV. He is biased and maybe has been hitting the "water" bottle a little too much.

May 22, 2007  02:25 PM ET

Hull has always made stupid comments. I remember back in the day when Gretzky was playing for the Blues and Hull said he couldn't play with Gretzky. Probably the only player to ever say something that moronic. That's like Pippen saying he couldn't play with Jordan. I don't think Hull is doing a good job with the whole TV situation and I don't think Messier did a good job during the All-Star game either. I can't believe there aren't any decent people they can put on TV other than over the hill retired players. Especially players that played for one of the teams that are on TV at the time. Did they really think he wouldn't make biased comments? And for Detroit "outplaying Anaheim all series" as Del Piero has put it, the only thing that matters is the final score...after tonight the table will be set for the Finals...Anaheim vs Ottawa. For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge the Red Wings!!!

May 22, 2007  02:28 PM ET

I'm sure someone will disagree with me, but our real gripe is with a poorly-run NHL, and NBC. Obviously NBC is trying to raise it's ratings by adding him when the Sabres were favorites in the playoffs. It's painful to watch Brett Hull outside a hockey rink.

I'm surprised someone would actually stick up for the NHL on the no goal call (besides a Stars fan). Ask Colin Campbell how "THE WAR ROOM" got into Toronto to review goals. Not like it helps anyways...

May 22, 2007  02:33 PM ET

Hey Beers-n-drums, you call yourself a "SABERS" fan? If you truly were a fan of the Sabers [sic]... you'd learn to spell the team's name properly. It's Sabres, dimwit.

As for Brett Hull's comments, well... if the Ducks could win even while playing less than 100%, just imagine what they could do if they were clicking on all cylinders. They're a better team than the Wings, simple as that. Good teams pounce on breaks that go their way, but great teams find a way to win even if they play like crap. Detroit's been controlling play but haven't gotten the breaks. Tough. They got to find a way to win, but they've always found a way to lose the past few playoff seasons.

Hull's just a loudmouth. Entertaining to listen to, maybe, but still a blowhard.

May 22, 2007  02:56 PM ET

i love it, one foot in the crease and the other lodged in his mouth. As a Buffalo resident and fan i truely appreciate that one

May 22, 2007  02:58 PM ET

I see a lot of people saying that the Wings have been out playing the Ducks, if that is the case then why are they down 3-2?

May 22, 2007  02:59 PM ET

Hull is an idiot and over the hill. Someone needs ot check his intake before he gets on the air. Pathetic ratings ploy. Dallas should be ashamed to continue to have such a low class bum on the payroll

May 22, 2007  03:19 PM ET

Hull's an ex- Red Wing what do you expect from Hull. Ducks will win tonite even if they play terrible. Teemu and his Ducks will win. He also said Detroit dominated on every aspect in OT. Anaheim outshoot Detroit 8 to 3. And an unbelievable goal by Selanne in OT. If they were truly better than Detroit than Hasek would stop the Ducks breakway shots, just like what Giguere does to Detroit's shot. Hull is wrong, the Ducks are a lot better than the Wings. The scoreboard proves it not the SOGs Anaheim wins tonight in Anaheim.

May 22, 2007  03:21 PM ET

here is a message to nhl21683 it is not 4 to 1 because Giggy has been phemonial so get over it. The Ducks have been outscoring Detroit its as simple as that

May 22, 2007  03:23 PM ET

vetro57, you never heard of someone being outplayed and still winning?

May 22, 2007  03:24 PM ET

wow....such strong feelings for someone whos scored more goals than almost anyone ever.................I am dumbfounded by the comparison to bonds also......I never once said the ducks suck, I just hate them....They are a very good team, if we are not careful they will beat us tonight......But, at the same time, we have outplayed them in every game, just unlucky bounces and bad breaks, which every team has to go through, sadly, we shoot ourselves in the foot far too often.....Hull, belongs in the hall, no matter what he says'........Bonds........................No comment!!! GO WINGS GO!!!!!!!!

May 22, 2007  03:42 PM ET

hey macgyver13 ; you stupid loser ;it's beer-n drums

May 22, 2007  03:50 PM ET

Brett Hull was a great player and a terrible talking head on TV. Just terrible. His analysis is terrible, his opinions are terrible, and even his hair is terrible. His post game analysis was terrible. If the Wings were so hot in OT Sunday, how did the Ducks outshoot them 8-3. Maybe Brett's just still ticked off at the way Giguere stoned him in the 2003 series. The Ducks skated all over Detroit in Game 1 and Hasek stole one. The Wings skated all over Anaheim for the first 60 minutes of Game 5 and Jiggy stole one. Get over it Wings fans, it's 3-2 Ducks.

Oh Brett....Quack Quack...Get over yourself.
