Reid pitched Moss on Eagles

The Eagles made a valiant 11th-hour push to try to lure Randy Moss away from the Patriots. There also were a few other teams involved, trying to convince the receiver to give them a shot. Moss listened, but in the end, no matter how impressively Eagles coach Andy Reid made his pitch or how much money the Eagles piled on, it didn't matter. According to Tim DiPiero, who represents Moss, there was no real bidding war. The game's single-season record-holder for touchdown receptions wasn't trying to pit the Patriots against anyone else.

I like that the Eagles are at least trying to get McNabb some offensive weapons. The Moss deal would have backfired on them though. I don't think Moss would be a model citizen anywhere other than NE.

If you just left a team that went 18-1 would you be that happy? He did get paid though. Moss was smart enough to know that money isn't all that if you aren't winning. Smart move Randy.

story title should be:

Reid failed to land Moss for Eagles.

The only Super Bowl Asante will be winning again will be on Madden 09. Other than Westbrook, the Eagles have no type of threat on offense. Kevin Curtis is good but I don't hink he's a true #1 WR. And I don't think Reggie Brown and Greg Lewis are really scaring anyone..

OK, the Eagles got themselves a top notch player on DEFENSE. So what have they got to show for improving their OFFENSE. Perhpas they're relying on the DEFENSE to put up more points than the OFFENSE. What a DUMB game plan that would be!

It wouldnt' have mattered if they got Moss because the QB throwing to him sucks.

Moss said he wanted to stay in NE.

Moss' agent should just shut up. Of course it was about money, and yes it helped that the Eagles wanted him. The guy gets 9 mil a year until he is 35 years old. Not a bad thing, but I hope he stops trying to make it sound like Moss is playing for free. Give us all a break...jeesh.. He wanted to stay with the Pats and used the Eagles to help get a better deal. Those are the facts. Fine by me, but do not write the story some other way. Other teams stayed out of it all along because they knew they were being used..

Four? ..You are right about Samuel, but no way do the Pats replace him with someone as good, or nearly as good...

March 5, 2008  09:16 AM ET

Wow. The Eagles are one bitter organization to try to dismantle the PATS like this. Belichick will remember this and will smack Reid around like he did Brad Childress. Although I suspect Arlen Specter may be behind all this.

Way to grab Samuel. Just make sure to sit him out for the 4th quarter of your next SB.

Four?....I have no doubt the Pats are the team to beat- still...They have their core group together and the big play guys.. and probably the best judge of talent in the NFL-Belichick.
The Eagles core group is not as good as their fans might think. And they are getting old. This is the last chance for them, they are going for it..I think they were stupid to put so much in one spot when they need so much..That whole offense of theirs is close to imploding and they have done nothing about it..

How many players left the Patriots and actually stood out for another team "NONE". Ty law, Deion Branch, David Givens, the tight end that went to the Broncos, Daniel Graham. They are all system players. Ty law is trying to get back to the Patriots, he is garbage with any other team. What did he have 2 interceptions in the last two years with the Chiefs. I am going to laugh my a@# off if Samuel is a flop. The division he played in with the Patriots is nothing like the NFC East division. He gets the likes of T.O., Santana Moss and Buress twice a year. I couldn't tell you any receivers that are in the Pats division. No wonder Samuel has had all those interceptions
