Farnsworth blames Torre for woes

Joe Torre's lack of confidence and poor communication skills led to Kyle Farnsworth's two years in The Bronx being ugly. At least that's how Farnsworth sees it. Not his inability to locate fastballs. Not his back problem that curtailed his availability. Not that he turned into the Yankee Stadium denizens' favorite whipping boy for poor pitching and showing up Jorge Posada and Torre on the mound. "I always have confidence in myself. But it's tough when you do lose the confidence from your manager to maybe prepare yourself, day in and day out when you have no clue about anything," said Farnsworth.

Blame Torree? Blame yourself or your own body. What is it with people that dump on someone after they have left the building? Sounds like this dude is some weasel of sorts. A grown man making some dough - and it may not be alot compared to other playas - but still whining like he is some sort of prima donna. Dude throw some strikes and some shutouts - first.

You lose confidence from your manager when the game is on the line, and you can't perform. It's that simple. The coaches are there to teach and advise and help you. The manager consults and makes decisions. Torre kept you as the 8th inning guy for a long painful time becasue that is what the yankees hired you to do. When you were more like a sixth inning guy, if anything he showed his confidence in you but it was you who failed the team. Because you did not respond. What do you want Kyle? You want the new manager to hold your hand? You want him to understand you? I agree with you, you have no clue.

It's kind of difficult to have confidence in a guy who chokes when he's under pressure to perform. Farnsowrth is just another overpaid whiner. STFU and learn how to pitch.

March 7, 2008  07:27 AM ET

FARMS-WORTH... watched this guy in AAA, at times thought he needed AA.

March 7, 2008  07:49 AM ET

Kyle, you want some cheese to go with that WHINE?! 'it's all Torre's fault.....no wait, it's all the fans' fault for booing me constantly.' how about just admit that you couldn't handle the pressure of playing for the Yankees?

March 7, 2008  07:54 AM ET

Farnsworthless, you just suck dude. You are completely unable to handle any form of pressure. Your 98 mph fastball is straight as a string and it does nothing but get launched into the cheap seats. It had nothing to do with Torre. You my friend were a terrible signing and Yankee fans everywhere will rejoice when you are gone after this year. Good day to you sir.

FarnsTwerp. Marginal talent. Marginal personality. Not qualified to carry Joe Torre's dirty jockstrap.

March 7, 2008  08:11 AM ET

I bet he blames Casey Stengel next. This guy couldn't find the strike zone with a GPS.

March 7, 2008  08:25 AM ET

I blame his parents for concieving him in the first place. What a loser

March 7, 2008  08:34 AM ET

Good luck Giradi. Good luck sticking Joba in the rotation and going with Farnsworth in the 8th inning. Good luck trying to fix him by teaching him how to pitch respectable for 2 games in a row. Good luck with Hawkins too in a big spot. Farnsworth and the Yanks are really driving me mad.

March 7, 2008  09:04 AM ET

Just another pro athlete blaming someone else for the fact that they suck.

March 7, 2008  09:06 AM ET

What a loser, blaming the manager for his inability to pitch! Maybe it is because he sucks

March 7, 2008  09:12 AM ET

I wonder if he's reading this this morning, and realizes what a total jackass he sounds like.
Take it at face value: Do I offer more credibility to Joe Torre.... or Kyle "Bootney Lee" Farnsworth

March 7, 2008  09:14 AM ET

but on a serious note...

Cole, i don't think Hawkins and Farnsworth will be the eighth inning guys if Joba moves into the rotation. if that happens and they decide that Joba is not the closer of the future, i think the 8th inning role will fall to Edwar Ramirez. he's shown he can be great--amazing strikeout numbers--and really just needs a litlte polishing in the minors. once he's able to consistently locate his fastball, he can be the 8th inning guy and be groomed as the closer of the future with Chamberlain in the rotation. there are other options as well, such as Alabaladejo and Ohlendorf.

Darnworth-less, you just plain sucked. Quit givin' up runs and gopher balls and you may find that the manager will suddenly have a whole lotta confidence in you! Simple as that. I won't charge you for that sage advice. Now go out and pitch and quit whinin'. All you guys are WAAAAYY overpaid.

March 7, 2008  09:26 AM ET

I am by no means a Yankees fan, but have the utmost respect for Torre...Seriously Kyle...Even if you feel this way, there is no way this is going to come out with you looking in any way good. Just SHUT YOUR MOUTH and play some baseball!!

March 7, 2008  09:28 AM ET

This would mean more if Farnsworth had been lights out in all of his other stops, where he supposedly had the manager's full support. He is that guy who's talent makes your mouth water and his 2 cent head makes you wonder how he makes it through each day.

Ahh, the most hated Yankee pitcher slams the most loved Yankee Manager. Makes about as much sense as giving up all of those 8th inning homeruns. The eye glasses worked for Ricky Vaughn, unfortunately for Farnsworthless life doesn't imitate art. Quick advice, take shots at the strike zone for once and not someone in no position to lower himself to respond to you. Is that what they teach you at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural University? Enjoy your mop up roll this year you flake.
