Sixers' execs on same draft page?
Sixers president Billy King is making the final call, but don't think for one second that everyone will be on the same page in Sixers Land. "I want the best player available," King proclaimed. No doubt coach Maurice Cheeks and adviser Larry Brown will say the same thing. But history tells us King's definition of the best player may not coincide with what everyone else wants. It's rare when Brown, the Sixers' executive vice president these days, wants the same things everyone else wants.

Billy King, Kevin McHale, Danny Ainge...just roaches...they just keep coming back no matter how much you spray them with ineptitude. As far as the pick, I'd think you have to go with Acie Law, right? Acie Law and Andre Iguodola to build around? Let's face it, you don't have much as it is, and Andre Miller has proven to be shoot first point guard (a nasty basketball epidemic by the way), and he's not explosive or a consistent shooter. So, he's not the answer. Plus, no big man is worth taking @ 12. Oden, Wright, Horford, Hibbert and Jianlian will all be gone by then. You're working with Tiago Splitter and Spencer Hawes @ 12...ugh!

Sixers should package Andre Miller and Possibly their pick together and trade up to Atlanta for the #3 pick and grab Yi. The Hawks are probably desperate enough to win now with Woodson and they arent that far off. They could easily pick up a big guy with the #12. The sixers would then be able to solidify their backcourt. Sign some like Jose Calderon from the raps, Iguodala, Carney, Hunter, and Yi. Not a bad place to start considering there young, The hawks would have Miller, Johnson, Smith, Marvin Williams, and Shelden Williams, and then have someone like Hawes come off the bench

I am not so sure I trust Billy King's decision making in this position either. Some of his players may be decent, but he has shown he'll give huge contracts to players that are undeserving of such money and then the team gets locked into those players and are unable to move them. But this year they have three picks in the first round. I would like to see some kind of package deal with one of the two later picks, so I'm giving him this draft to make some good moves.

Whoa whoa whoa...Andre Miller is anything BUT a shoot-first point guard. He's always averaged around 13-14 ppg. The problem is that the Sixers need a 2-guard (which Law would fit in nicely, then take over for Miller, who's getting old) and some serious inside scoring and rebounding, which will be very hard to find where they are picking.

cuerzo,
It's the reason he's not still in Denver. He and Earl Boykins couldn't get the ball where it needed to go. So, they shot. One board has Jeff Green going to Philly which would be a nice pick. Philly needs so much, they have to go with the player that can do the most at his given position. cuerzo, if Green measures out around 6'9, do you go small and run with Miller, Iguodola, Korver, Green and Dalembert. I'm reaching here, but I'm trying to promote good baskeball, and it is the eastern conference.

The Sixers need an inside presence that Dalembert & Co. just will never be able to give them. The problem is that they haven't excepted that fact and have invested so much in him that they are handcuffed. This is what Billy King is famous for: Investing way too much on players that never acheive their potential. I think they actually have a nice core of players in AI part 2, Green, Dalembert, and Korver (coming off the bench)....They just need a defensive-minded center and another defensive specialist at the 2 spot....

"They just need a defensive-minded center" Do you even know who Dalembert is?

All Dalembert is is a defender and rebounder. He does what he does and thats it. Miller is a good pg, but look whose around him? Denver traded Miller to get Allen, thats it. That being said best players on Sixers are Iggy - a future allstar, Dalembert (I know that cant be good), and Miller. Green is a good pick. If you go with an offensive C Dalembert could go to PF. Arguably Green is a slower version of Iggy. They could use him at 4 or move Iggy to the 2. Law would be a great reach but how about Rush? He's a big athletic 2. They'll still need a 4 but with this draft I suspect the second round will suprise people. And then its their bench...ugh...

Actually, Andre Miller was a large reason why the Sixers were succesful after the trade because he is a true point guard. The problem with the sixers is that they lack depth and they had to play their starters for too many minutes. The Sixers would be up @ half and deep into the 3rd quarter, but blow it in the 4th because of speed.
The Sixers need to address the point guard position and the SF/PF position. Jeff Green would be nice in the 3 spot because he can create his own shot, which is something the Sixers really lack.

Dalembert a defender? He might try and play defense, but the fact is that he is weak at best, about 190ibs soaking wet and can't "defend" any of the true centers and most PF's in the league.
