Walsh, NFL close to Spygate deal

Matt Walsh is close to breaking his silence on Spygate. Five weeks after Walsh, a former video assistant for the Patriots, suggested in published reports that he possessed damaging information about the team's videotaping practices, his lawyer and the NFL last night were on the verge of agreeing to the terms of his coming forward, according to a person close to the talks. The breakthrough follows a period last month when the sides were deadlocked and blaming each other for making unreasonable demands. Walsh is considered crucial to the NFL completing its investigation into the Patriots using their video crew to steal opponents' signals. The NFL's lawyer contended that companies do not grant blanket indemnity and agree to pay legal fees to employees who were fired and may have stolen property.

Two stories saying the exact same thing.
Must be a slow gossip day.

That line about "stolen property" grabbed my attention. If he does indeed have material in his possession that shows more illegal videotaping of opponents and the Patriots claim it as stolen property, doesn't that blow the defense mentioned in the previous thread that he did the videotaping on his own?

theyre talking about the tape thats missing of the FG kick by Vinatieri

I protest. Stalin, Mao, Marc Rich and everybody else gets away with murder.
Speaking of which, that last villain, they say he was involved in the 'Oil for Food' scandal -- after we pardoned him? I hope that accusation was wrong.

Anyway, I don't care what he did. Bill Belichick is my presidential candidate for 2012 or 2016.

Just like steroids in MLB, the story just won't go away......

Lord Belichick ponders the self-destruct button on the Delusional Orbiter. "It was all so perfect," he mutters to himself. "Only in your sick mind and cheatin' heart, Billy," a spectral voice reminds him. "It was only real to you and those faithful aboard this ship." Belichick's tortured mind races as sweat breaks out beneath his cheap, chopped hoodie....

Remember this is the same guy who was kicked off his college golf team for putting razorblades in his roommates bed cause he was mad at him. "Once a turd always a turd" !!!

The clock is ticking and the Patriots are looking at the future and it does look so bright, an old defense, an offensive line that cannot handle pressure and the secret video tapes of the Patriots cheating.

Yes, Walsh is a low life and that is what low lifes do they cheat. You can also Belichick to the low life list.

Walsh and the Patriots, a marriage made in heaven

March 10, 2008  12:16 PM ET

I believe you're wrong. Belichick "divorced" Walsh a long time ago.

March 10, 2008  12:30 PM ET

Yes, but Walsh got custody of the tapes, and now he wants child support.

March 10, 2008  12:30 PM ET

Everybody knows they were cheating. Charge them with something, then lets move on. It's getting old.

18 & Oh Nooo!!!

Ummm, yeah, that never happened. Re-read that Globe story.

This is the most pointless and political exercise. This guy will probably produce detailed videos of the RAMS Superbowl walkthrough, getting everyone all tizzied up but unable to do anything because there is no evidence that Bill Belichick authorized or used the videotaping. The guy was fired for taping internal organization phone calls without authorization.

No wonder the competition committee doesn't want to touch this.

"Is that shyte on Tom Brady's backside?"

It was digitally added. If you look you can see a flourescent green dot on the back of his helmet too.

March 10, 2008  01:29 PM ET

If I were Walsh I would post all of the videos on YouTube before the NFL destroys them.

The only way I see Godell getting out of this mess & keeping his mult-million dollar job is to have an independent council conduct a thorough investigation and take away any win in which the Patriots filmed another team whether it's the regular season or the playoffs ,,, or who they had doing the filming. It's the only way people will see Godell as legitimate & fair ,,, a good commisioner. He's not viewed that way right now.

We already know & have proof from the Matt Walsh tapes the Patriots unfairly filmed the Rams and used this in the superbowl against them so if Godell is acting in a proper way for a commisioner that superbowl has to be taken away & given to the Rams anything less is unaceptable. Belicheck should also be suspended for at least a year ,,, whats the suspensions Godell's given Odell Thurman and Pacman Jones who never cheated in a game ,,, then the suspension should be at least that long. If Godell wants to change his image into a good & fair commisioner he needs to come down extremely hard on the Patriots and Belechick. In fact if Godell handles this correctly & does come down super hard he might be viewed as the one of the best commisioners of all time and hall of fame worthy. Wow can you believe that if he swings the axe he's just made himself a hall of famer and instant hero to America hope his PR men have told him that !
