Emery out, Gerber in for Sens

Ray Emery might want to get used to his seat at the end of the Senators bench. He might be there a while. Nothing is official. Perhaps, at this point, GM/coach Bryan Murray doesn't need to announce his choice. Martin Gerber has turned the corner. Now he just needs the rest of the Senators to follow. Murray has tried to avoid getting involved in the raging goaltending controversy, but it's clear that Gerber now has a stranglehold on the job.

didn't gerber sign a monstrous contract that'll make it hard to trade him?

Emery will be in a different sweater next year for sure. I don't think Gerber will be going anywhere. Emery got what he deserves.

How is bringing in Smith a dumb move by the GM? Smitty's remaining contract is only 900K per year while Holmqvist is unrestricted and went for 1mil this season. If he turns out to be as good as everyone thinks he is he is a serious bargain and if he is not - this is less than most teams pay their backups (Emery is at 2.75 mil a year).

Ehh I have mixed feelings about this. I live in Binghamton and saw Emery mature (well, maybe not mature, but get better at least) over the span of a few years so I'd like to see him play more. He has his moments where he shines, but with him thats only once every four games.

The Sens have messed around with this number one goalie thing for too long. Now that Gerber is the number one starter and he knows it, expect his game to continue to be consistant. Remember before all this Emery fuss started and he was injured how good Gerber was. Emery is a foolish young man who has been unable to handle the fame and money the NHL provides him with. Hey, maybe he can go play with Alexander Daigle someplace. Birds of a feather...

Emery, Avery...I can't tell the difference. Can you?

This could be fun, lets make up a team of all the biggest jerks in the NHL and put them on one team....Now, I wonder where they would call home?
Hasek and Emery in goal, Avery, Jager, Downey up front. Bertuzzi, Simon, Kilger on 2nd unit. Kotstopolous and McCabe on D.
Well lets see who you guys want to add to the team. I've got Tortarella down as coach.

baun: that motley crue of players you mentioned wouldn't win much so i'd suggest they call cleveland home, cause teams from cleveland don't win anything! lol

You can't forget to add Donald Brashear in there too

I'd put Belfour in goal before Hasek - though he would be a pretty close second - I know he isn't in the NHL this season but he is still playing.
Oh - and Brashear totally belongs - but you forgot Chris "the turtle" Neil.
