A report in the Daily Mirror claims that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich may order as many as 10 Blues players out of Stamford Bridge this summer. Andriy Shevchenko is one name heavily tipped for the exit, likely back to Italy and AC Milan. Didier Drogba is allegedly being chased by clubs including Real Madrid while Barcelona and Juventus have both been linked with Frank Lampard.

Jozy Altidore anyone? He could be a blues.

March 11, 2008  08:23 AM ET

That's a lot of players

March 11, 2008  08:27 AM ET

Roman is an idiot. First you get rid of arguably the best manager in the world then you want to drop 10 players. Like Chaco said, that's a ton of players.

MLS FAN-I'm not sure any of us really want Jozy to go there. He would probably never get off the reserve team. He needs to start much lower. It'd be a nice payday though.

March 11, 2008  08:51 AM ET

Why in Franz Beckenbauer's name would he want to do that?

March 11, 2008  09:41 AM ET

Wouldn't be surprised that if all of them leave. Sheva is loved in Milan, Drogba ought to follow Mourinho wherever he goes and Lampard has been linked to Juve for quite awhile now. Sad thing is all of them are replaceable so Chelsea will still be a world-class team without all of them.

March 11, 2008  09:41 AM ET

Jozy should never go to Chelsea. He needs to play his way up to that level.

March 11, 2008  10:49 AM ET

Super Frank better stay.

March 11, 2008  12:16 PM ET

No Sheva, come to the US and make your wife happy!

March 11, 2008  12:33 PM ET

Drogba should follow Mourinho
Sheva will either go to Italy for one year and then MLS bound
Lampard to Juve

March 11, 2008  12:42 PM ET

Well most of the players mentioned don't get much run so I don't think it would be too bad. It will be strange to watch Chelsea without Lampard though.

Also, where are these Altidore rumors coming from? He has a lot of potential but there are quite a few young strikers who have been on the main stage for a while that deservedly will garner more attention. However I can't speculate too much as we don't know in which direction the next manager will take the team tactically. Except that it'll be "entertaining football."

March 11, 2008  01:41 PM ET

Sheva should have never left the legendary confines of the San Siro. His skills and abilities are better suited for the Italian game. If the Milan brass are able to bring back Sheva, along with a few other players, then the living legend that is Paolo Maldini will likely stay on for another year - and that is a wonderful thing!

March 11, 2008  02:40 PM ET

10 players isnt that big of a number if its reserve and third-string players we're talking about. granted the article mentions Sheva, Drogba, and Lampard who are all most likely to leave (not so sure about Lampard though)
Why not ship both Sheva and Drogba to Milan with Mourinho at the helm?
I just dont know where Drogba will land...

March 11, 2008  02:52 PM ET

Time to run Fat Frank out of town. Give him Italian citizenship so we can get his lazy ass off of the national team while we're at it also.

March 11, 2008  04:40 PM ET

I agree with Treehorn. I have no clue why Lampard is so well regarded anyway. All he does is hold back Gerrard in the English midfield. Hopefully Capello can see what Sven Goran and McClaren couldn't see: that a duo of Gerrard and Lampard in central midfield doesn't work.

March 11, 2008  09:41 PM ET

Chelski's having the Russian Revolution all over again...i love it, Smooth, get rid of your only forward that can score in Drogba. Sheva never made it because he wasn't good at having balls banged at his head for 90 minutes. They need a poacher, and thats not jozy altidore. anyways, he is probably three years older than he says he is. Chelski can't lose Drogba, or they may as well relinquish third place to liverpool, as much as i hate to say it. I love how arsenal and Man U stay above the trouble

March 11, 2008  10:59 PM ET

I haven't heard any rumors off Altidore to Chelsea. Although, any young (or old) player of any talent could be considered a target for the big clubs.

March 12, 2008  03:13 PM ET

I do not think they were/are any Jozy to Chelsea rumors. We were all going off of what MLS Fan 05 suggested.

March 12, 2008  09:53 PM ET

yea its not a rumor.. just what that cat said

March 13, 2008  02:11 PM ET

Sheva to Milan, Drogba to wherever Mourinho goes, Fat Frank to whoever will take him. Lampard and Gerrard are overrated. I can see David Villa going to Chelsea if Drogba leaves...
