Will Vikings trade for Losman?

It still looks as if the Vikings' best bet for a backup quarterback is Buffalo's J.P. Losman, who is signed for $1.9 million this season and probably could be obtained for a fourth-round draft pick.

Why? To get two inconsistent athletic QB's? I don't know why you would get another young struggling QB. I thought JP would make an improvement last year, and maybe he could have without getting injured. But, I don't understand this move. There is no QB worth taking in the Next 2 NFL Drafts. The Vikings have a playoff team with a Practice Squad QB. They don't have a good option at QB in Free Agency or the Draft.

Losman would be a good fit for the Vikings. He is a constant qb and could make the vikings a playoff team. But if the Vikings were smart they would trade for Pennington.Pennnington manages the game and doesnt make mistakes. He would be a perfect fit since they barly pass and would be another Big Ben

Minnesota should focus on getting Jackson somebody to throw the ball to. Berrian was a decent addition, but it's hard to look like a capable quarterback when your best receiver is Bobby Wade.

Losman is brutal - he lost the starting qb job on a team that had no expectations last year at all. When you can't even maintain the starter's role on a team that doesn't even expect to win all that many games, it tells you how bad you are. Plus he's cocky, like he's earned it or something. Garbage.

The Vikings would be scary if they could get any quarterback that was accurate. I still say the first game last year when the Packers played in the Metrodome if the Vikings had someone better than Kelly Holcolm they would have won because there were several plays were the Vikings crummy recievers burned our corners and were overthrown etc.

Funny thing about the NFC North... Aaron Rodgers has never started an NFL game, yet he's the QB with the most job security in the division.

A sad commentary on the lack of QB talent in the NFL>

The departure of J.P. Losman would not be a bad thing. I think he is inconsistant. He also reminds me of Rob Johnson who was not well liked. Buffalo needs a QB that can take charge and be a leader the team can rally around.

Of all the backups mentioned, Losman is the only one I would consider. We need someone to who is athletic, and I think Losman could do much better in the Vikings system. But I really hope TJack silences the doubters this year, but we have to hope a nucleus of Berrian, Wade, and Rice develops fast enough and numb nuts Childress expands the offense.

As a Buffalo fan, I'll say this. I wanted JP to work out, and I think most fans did. He's a good guy. But at the end of the day, I just don't think he has the smarts to be a consistent NFL QB. Great athletic skills, but way too much inconsistency. I wish him luck, however, wherever he goes.

"I don't understand why Jests fans are so down on Pennington"

Because he has no arm? But they have been pretty brutal to him...watching him get injured last year and booed of the field was tragic.

Exactamundo....

I couldnt have said it better myself. I really like Losman also, but the future of the QB spot in Buffalo belongs to Trent

March 12, 2008  09:57 AM ET

Goodell...agreed...and I like what I have seen out of Trent so far...may he continue!!!

I'm a Bills fan. I hate JP.

Watch one of his t.v. interviews. It's embarassing. He pulls his hat over his face and makes a dumb comment every time.

March 12, 2008  10:04 AM ET

I wish we could have Frank Reich back.

March 12, 2008  10:13 AM ET

but why??

March 12, 2008  10:16 AM ET

NYFAN07 Are you out of your mind. Losman is bottom of the barrel, and Chad Pennington is older than dirt.

thumbs down to both. You should watch football more often. Not sure what tv stations you get, but you need to watch other teams other than the Jets and Bills.
