Details of Taylor's robbery

Sean Taylor's generosity may have led to a botched robbery at his Miami home last year, according to defendant interrogations released Wednesday. Jason Mitchell, one of four men charged in the Redskin star's murder, told Miami-Dade detectives that Taylor gave wads of cash -- $10,000 each -- to Taylor's brother and sister. The siblings, Sasha and Jamal Johnson, flashed the cash in front of their friends during Sasha's September birthday party. "I was just like, 'That's a lot of money,'" Mitchell said to police Nov. 30, four days after the killing.

You never pull that kind cash out in front of anyone, family included!
Sad how that ended up but everything happens for a reason.

R.I.P Sean!

March 13, 2008  07:34 AM ET

It was his cash in his house. He wasn't at the strip club "making it rain". He was giving his family a b-day gift. Was it the smartest thing to do? Probably not. But I guess he felt comfortable around these people.

I hope that Michael Wilbon and the rest have to acknowledge every fact as it comes out. They jumped to conclusions as fast as jackrabbits with most of the remarks being negative about 21.

Apparently, Sean did nothing wrong and his prior criminal troubles had nothing to do with his death.

I didn't go nuts with grief the way some of the goofy fans did but I hope that Sean is enjoying the justice he is getting. There is not much in this world.

MITCHELL YOU WILL GO TO HELL!!! DAMN YOU!!!!

March 13, 2008  07:56 AM ET

Should have given them saving certificates then maybe the whole robbery thing never would have happened.

March 13, 2008  08:06 AM ET

NO! Some Punk **** Thugs Who thought they were G's is why Taylor died but he's **** much to blame you shouldn't have that much cash or as we found out it puts thoughts in people's heads

March 13, 2008  08:13 AM ET

Never "flash" the cash.

March 13, 2008  08:15 AM ET

Taylor's death was obviously more then this. No one needed to see Wads of cash to know that one of the most talented players at his position in the NFL made a pretty good Dollar... What a BS excuse. But the same story holds true, these athletes family's screw them all the time... Look at Lebron's Mother, she almost costed him everything with that Hummer, AI's family wanted to play thug and he had to go after his cousin with a gun, the list goes on and on. Just sad how selfish family members are and more obviously stupid

RIP, Sean.

What a waste. There is daily murders by punks with no regards for themselves or human life. They have nabbed the two punks in Durham NC that for no apparent reason other than a little bit of cash and a debit card ruthlessly murdered a college student body president. Obviously the death penalty and life in jail is not deterrenet enough. I feel that some of this disregard for life is trickle down from what is seen on TV daily as a result of American policy.

Money doesn't always solve problems, especially for people that aren't used to having it.

I admit, due to this guy's past I jumped to conclusions and really regret doing so. Here is a young man who was on the verge of greatness, with a baby trying to improve himself - and he was so young.

This is an American tragedy.

2 Things...First.......Costed?? **** does that mean? Second.....what kind of people are these? Like savages.

March 13, 2008  10:09 AM ET

Might mention here that Micheal Jordan's dad was killed while travelling through NC roadside, again for no particular reason..........

If an individual is watching TV, and having a problem distinguishing what he's seeing from reality, changing a channel isn't going to help. He's screwed up. My favorite movies are the most violent, and I am not a threat to anyone.

March 13, 2008  11:11 AM ET

D.T.N.....(dont trust nobody)...but really...this could happen to anyone...if your family is going to set you up..your probably toast...its sad though...so senseless

March 13, 2008  11:43 AM ET

What a shame...Taylor's siblings shouldn't have been friends or associated with such ****!

March 13, 2008  11:54 AM ET

Gone, but not Forgotten.

Rest in Peace Sean.

You will be missed.

just goes to show that pampered naive athletes are no more intellectually equipped to deal with great sudden wealth than the average schmuck

March 13, 2008  12:02 PM ET

I don't see how you could put the blame on anybody but the kids who shot him. Not his siblings, or him. Those kids choose to go rob someone who worked hard for his money. And he died trying to protect his girlfriend and baby. It's just like a doctor or lawyer who gets robbed for having a nice car or house. Is it their fault they worked hard for it?

What are you talking about? Player's salaries are common knowlege. You think people didn't already know he was worth millions?

You comment makes no sense. Millionairs commonly give their family money, how is he different than any other millionair giving their kids, or family money. Just becuase you dont' hear about it, you think it doesn't happen. How are you putting any blame on him?

Should have given them saving certificates then maybe the whole robbery thing never would have happened.

lady Peasalot

what difference would it had made if he gave them a paper bond/cetificate or cash, woudln't he have had the cash to purchase it? Like I said above, his salary is common knowledge, who didnt' know he was rich?
