Hampton's comeback on track
The lurching Mike Hampton comeback train is back on the tracks. The oft-injured veteran left-hander had no problems with his groin or anything else during a four-inning simulated game against Braves hitters Wednesday. Barring any setbacks, Hampton is expected to make his next scheduled start Monday against the Cardinals in Jupiter, Fla. Buddy Carlyle started in his place in Wednesday night's game against Cleveland. Hampton, 35, is attempting a comeback after missing 2-1/2 seasons recovering from two elbow surgeries 16 months apart. In two Grapefruit League starts, he has been charged with three hits and one unearned run in 31/3 innings, with one walk and two strikeouts.

i won't believe it until he actually makes two starts in a row......no sim games either.
Braves didn't need him yesterday anyway......even though Carlyle gave up three solo homers, they shelled Fultz for 9 runs in the bottom of the 4th.

I've got to thank those superior school systems out in Colorado...If not for them, this mess might still be on the Mets.

Does this mean that the Red Sox will be looking to sign him too?
I'm sick of this guy. He should've converted to an OF. He can hit better than he pitches.

I would like to see this man shut up and stop believing he is better than he is. His best year since 2000 was AVERAGE. He has not been good in 7 years. Remember something folks...Bush wasnt in office, 9/11 hadn't happened, and Pluto was still a planet back then. Perpective enough for you?

Make no mistake about it, if the Braves do not win the Division, it would be the Phillies that do...it will be the Mets. The Phillies will be lucky to stay about .500 this year.

Let's see the Mets have a Santana, followed by Maine, followed by an all-star DL list. While I can't say the Braves will win, I CAN say it will be 3 horse race to the finish.

Man, you sound as dumb as a sack of hammers. How about a Pedro who's healthy and a Perez who is better than anyone on the Atlanta staff except Smotz? Atlanta is history.

Pedro hasn't been healthy since clinton was in office. he's more fragile than a dozen eggs. Guys like Pedro make you too reliant on the bullpen b/c they can't get past the 7th inning. Any team that relys too heavily on their pen are in trouble.

Pedro is one twinge away from the DL. Always has been delicate.
Perez is good, but Maine is better.
In any case, the Mets are not gonna run away with anything.
Though if they are as good as there fans are witty, then it's going to be a long season.

All I can say is good luck Met fans. Being a Yankee fan, I've been HOPING that a fragile pitching staff would stay healthy for 7 years now. And my hopes and dreams fell faster than Ellliot Spitzer.

Hopefully he can stay off the DL this year, but I doubt it!
