Packers linebacker Nick Barnett entered into a plea agreement that will allow him to avoid facing a criminal conviction stemming from a nightclub incident last summer. A pair of misdemeanor disorderly conduct charges filed against Barnett for the incident at an Appleton nightclub the night of June 16-17 will be dropped if the Packers linebacker meets the requirements of the agreement.

Great message here from Wisconsin leaders: Its OK to shove a woman (who is half your size) to the ground, as long as you play for the Packers... what a joke. Any man who lays a finger on a woman is a DIRTBAG!!

Do you think he will get suspended?

March 13, 2008  10:25 AM ET

Packers miss the playoffs without him... thats funny, Desmond Bishop is just waiting in the wings. Anthony I'm sure you were there to see what really happened, whole thing got blown out of proportion.

You can read the official police report online. He and a woman got in an argument, he threw a drink in her face first, then she threw one is his face, then he (an NFL linebacker!) two-hand shoved her hard enough that was knocked to the ground in the bar. If you are OK with it Sconboxer, I guess thats just further evidence of how they raise people in Wisconsin... Only a loser physically harms a woman.

And since when, AA, was he raised in WI? Get your facts straight!

Special treatment for a Green Bay Packer. Not too surprising here in Wisconsin.

I don't know if he did it or not...but the truth is, sports players can get away with alot more then the average working person. It's just the way it is.

I'm not one to make excuses for middle tier linebackers, but celebrity DOES inspire the dregs of society to cross the line sometimes - and in this case I am referencing the woman in the story, not Barnett. It was a fairly big story in Wisconsin when the bartender at the night club came to Nick's defense saying that he was the victim in this situation and it was the woman suing who was out of line. Everyone expected the case to get thrown out, so Nick making a deal is a little surprising.

Just to respond to AA - The police report you're referencing is testimony from the woman's point of view. This is contradicted by testimony from other witnesses who were present. Nice dig at Wisconsin too. You're classy and I'm sure always well behaved in public.

I live in GB and hes not getting special treatment, you most know the whole story before accsuing him Anthony,
