Bonds' 762nd HR ball up for auction
Jameson Sutton pulled his version of the hidden-ball trick, and it could bring him as much as $1 million. The 24-year-old Boulder resident revealed Thursday he retrieved the ball hit by Barry Bonds for a 762nd career home run at Coors Field on Sept. 5 - which could end up as baseball's career record. Sutton secured the ball during a three-man scramble, and a spokesman for SCP Auctions - which will launch a two-week online bidding war beginning March 31 - said it could be worth as much as $1 million. Before the game, Sutton had snagged a batting practice ball that helped him get the home run ball. "I did what was a weird splits, and that's when I saw (the home run ball) rolling right in front of me," Sutton said. "I threw the practice ball and grabbed the home run ball." The diversion, intended or not, worked because the fans with whom Sutton wrestled for the ball - Arvada resident Robert Harmon and another man whose identity is uncertain - ended up vying for the batting-practice ball.

if he waits and Bonds comes back and hits another that would stink, but hey if he waits a little and Bonds doesnt come back the ball is worth more. I would cash in.

I understand that the guy needs to sell the ball, but it if was mine, I'd burn the word BALCO into the ball, and offer it to Bonds for free. And if he called me stupid, I'd give it to the hall for free.

Yes yes....perhaps sir you are correct. This is one chap who seems quite comfortable with balls next to his face. About the only thing that could make this picture more uncomfortable would be if he was to lick his lips. yes yes....that would be quite....uncomfortable.

That's pretty slick though. Throwing the practice ball and grabbing the million dollar one. Props to him. Hope he gets some mad cash for it.

The ball has no value and the record is meaningless. When someone hits 756+ legitimately, then we'll talk about it's value and place in history.
