Problems with Selig's plane

A private jet carrying Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig and bound for his desert home in Scottsdale, Ariz., had to return to Mitchell International Airport on Wednesday night after a landing-gear door failed to work properly after takeoff. The jet, a Canadair 600, landed safely. The plane belongs to Sterling Aviation, a private aviation service at Mitchell. Major League Baseball has an arrangement with Sterling to fly Selig and top MLB officials around the country.

March 14, 2008  08:45 AM ET

Taxi for Selig!!!!

March 14, 2008  08:57 AM ET

Did he land or was he shot down?

March 14, 2008  09:27 AM ET

Everywhere Selig goes these days, the word "Mitchell" pops up.

I am quite familiar with the term "problem with the plane". In my day, planes were indestructible. The only "problems" were as a result of a well placed drunken pilot and the removal of tail wings prior to takeoff. Senator Mitchell, you are on notice.

Maybe he should ride with the president, in air force one. They can compare salaries. Lets see, commissioner of baseball $ 15 mil or so, the president of the united states $400 grand. Of course this doesn't count their tips...seems fair.

Too bad the plane didn't crash

March 14, 2008  10:49 AM ET

I hate it when that happens to my plane, too. He'll probably raise ticket prices and the MLB TV package and buy a reliable plane for himself.

March 14, 2008  11:49 AM ET

What is the name of the pilot that safely landed this ****'s plane and how can we have him fired?

March 14, 2008  11:50 AM ET

The ONLY problem I see is this plane did not swirl towards the earth at 300 mph!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

March 14, 2008  12:16 PM ET

That's what happens when you order your private jets from the Emperor's Club... the plane, like the average employee, goes down.

Just ask Eliot Spitzer.

Hankie S. was heard to exclaim - " the plane must have been on steroids" !!!
