Auburn, Georgia Tech, Mississippi State, Stanford and Troy have each extended scholarship offers to Lassiter (Ga.) junior tight end/linebacker Philip Lutzenkirchen As for a front-runner, I really like Auburn and Georgia Tech," the 6-foot-4, 230-pound Lutzenkirchen said. He's anxious to see if Clemson and Georgia will offer.

Clemson just got a good TE last year. One that was supposed to go to Georgia. I guess if Georgia wants him, he would go.

I think I would pick GA over GTech & Auburn as well.

From the above I take it that Philip is a junior right now and high school and he has one year left next year.

I have always wondered about the increasing trends in college recruiting to lock in commitments from Juniors, Sophomors, and even some Freshman in highschool. I have read some instances of player redeciding and teams redeciding. What if any hard rules apply to this type of recruiting? Since the child is still a minor, I would suppose that the parents need to be involved in the commitment?

The commitment is NON Binding. Until you sign a letter of intent (Feb of yuor senior year) it means nothing legally. So really this is just a lot of hype (which I admit, I follow) to keep us geeked up during the off season. If nay coach wanted to approach this kid from another school, they could and he can change his mind a hundred times before national signing day. And has Terelle Pryor has shown us, yuo don't need to make a deciosn on national signing day if you choose not to do so.

Thank you for the clarification.

That ORANGE TOMMY can sure accesorize!!!!

March 14, 2008  01:53 PM ET

Why any kid in his right mind would consider Clemson right now is beyond me... That jackhole head coach... Is almost as bad as petrino

March 14, 2008  03:13 PM ET

Noooooo to the Lassiter kid! I went to Sprayberry: the rival school of Lassiter (It's kinda like the Ga/Ga Tech football rivalry where Sprayberrry is Ga Tech). He should go to GT just so UGA wouldn't be tainted by the Lassiter disease.

What the hell is that Avatar How bout em??? Spongebob with a sweater on?

March 14, 2008  07:13 PM ET

There was an article about him and other unusual mascots on ESPN.com recently.

You couldn't hold Lassiter's Tuba strap. Only good thing to come out of Sprayberry was Travis Tritt...exactly!!

Both pale in comparison to the Raiders, (if you know what I mean).

PileofCrepes: You're welcome and sorry about the typos, i was at work and doing a sales report at the same time.

March 16, 2008  01:00 AM ET

Hey there commenter, Ty Pennington also went to Sprayberry. Oh yeah.

March 16, 2008  12:41 PM ET

Haha...sorry, I don't think there's such thing as a Tuba strap. You get what I'm saying; Lassiter is good at band.

March 16, 2008  04:32 PM ET

Heheh, yeah man. Lassiter is good at band and better at just about every group or sport. I'm not one to back down to a Trojan though.

March 16, 2008  07:00 PM ET

Well, I'm proud.. to be..a Wal-ton Raider. LOL

I never ventured north of Shallowford or west of of Old Canton....the "slums' as we call it (haha). It's gets a little dangerous, ya know?

Heh, meanwhile with your schools winning everything in sports, Kennesaw Mountain's sitting there in the corner not doing anything
