Kevin Jones says he wouldn't mind playing next season for the Eagles, the team he was a fan of during his youth in Chester. The 6-1, 230-pound, 4-year NFL running back and former Cardinal O'Hara High star was released by the Lions on Thursday, opening up plenty of options for next season. Two hours after the Lions' release was made public, 12 teams showed interest, according to Jones, including the Eagles.

If he thinks he is going to get a big contract, he is wrong. A good back, nothing more. The big free agent money is gone, now teams are bargain hunting..

A good back who can't stay healthy. Does this mean Lions are still in denial about the fact that what they really need is a line?

March 15, 2008  10:06 AM ET

Wouldnt make a bad late spring pick up with a one-year-incentive-laden deal

March 15, 2008  10:09 AM ET

Have fun signing a guy who is always hurt and looks as if he is running with about 60% of his potential all the time. Will be a colosal waste of money for any team who gets him!

March 15, 2008  10:09 AM ET

I'm not sure how he would fit in with the Eagles backfield. He won't take Westbrook"s or Buckhalter's spot, and they barely used Tony Hunt last year. Signing another RB would be a waste of money

I think he would be better off with another team meaning one where he might get on the field a little...the Eagles don't need another running back!

Biminator's right, your team just needs an O-Line. Oh, yeah better idea, Fire Matt Millen so that your new GM actually cares about his O-Line

March 15, 2008  11:16 AM ET

how bout the bears?

March 15, 2008  11:25 AM ET

Good back. Would be a good pick up. But needs to simply stay heathly.

March 15, 2008  11:38 AM ET

ive watched jones his entire career. he is stong, fast and can hit the hole. you cant name a runningback in the league that wouldnt get hurt behind our line. now we have to waste a pick on drafting a runnging back. and knowing millen it will be in the first round. you want to talk "colosal" mistakes it would be the lions cutting jones instead of trading him. he was worth a 3rd-4th round pick. staying heathy wasnt his fault

March 15, 2008  11:58 AM ET

monguin_z34 ...No one was going to give more than a 6 or 7 for the guy. You would be ticked if you were a lions fan and they gave up a third for him.

March 15, 2008  12:14 PM ET

Does this mean Westbrook accounts for only 84% of the offensive output instead of 85%?

March 15, 2008  12:15 PM ET

He'll put on a uniform and break something on the first play. You can remember me saying that.

more west to wr

March 15, 2008  01:46 PM ET

I guess finding a WR is no longer a priority? Glad we'll be safe a RB. Word is Shawn Alexander will be released. I'm sure the Eagles will show interest there too.

March 15, 2008  02:22 PM ET

hey i mean, obviously westbrook cant beat the giants, maybe this guy can

March 15, 2008  02:38 PM ET

Everybody loves a guy that is willing to go to a team where he has no chance of starting or gaining major minutes.... says something about his desire to compete, doesn't it?

March 15, 2008  03:27 PM ET

It would be a smart move for the Eagles to get Jones. He would add the second option that they always needed and is a good replacement if Westbrook gets injured

March 15, 2008  03:46 PM ET

it appears that the Eagles are considering every available player....keep trying to figure out how to beat the Giants!!!!
