Broken finger doesn't slow Iverson

The Nuggets racked up all kinds of superlatives Friday night. One that might not show up in the record book is most points by a player with one good hand. Nuggets guard Allen Iverson, playing with a right ring finger teammate Carmelo Anthony emphasized is "broken," scored a game-high 28 points as the Nuggets walloped the Raptors 137-105. Iverson has played four games since getting hurt March 7. The injury is called a small non-displaced fracture at the end of his finger, but Anthony begged to differ when a reporter called it a "bad finger."

Pound for pound the greatest NBA player in recorded history. Greater players have been mentioned, but not by reliable witnesses.

This guy always gives you 200% on the floor every night. I've never heard another player complain about his effort on the court.

amen. the man has the heart of a lion. despite his maturity issues from time to time, the man is the definition of a warrior....others dont want to play hurt, but he plays badly hurt at times, and has thru-out his career. my hat is off to him and his leave-it-all-on the-court play...

Iverson has bin a basketball owtlaw since he came in the leauge.
Still wish Miami got him a season & a half ago.

localboy54, enjoy your winning streak, it is impressive, no question!, but no yao, no championship, sorry!, the west is just too loaded and i'm afraid at the end of the season your biggest accomplishment will be this streak your guys are on, so enjoy it because it's the only bragging rights you'll have!

A fearless player indeed, but watch that pound for pound comment a bit...the ink from all them tats add about 3 pounds to his total weight.

Denver is 1.5 games behind GSW for a playoff seed. They better win a lot of games quick or that season would be a waste (the funny thing is Philly will probably get the last laugh).

I think it would have been interesting to see him as a Timberwolf. KG the most versatile PF and AI who can score 30+ easily with KG. That would be a perfect 1-2 punch (or AI and Big Al). Of course they would probably have to give up Foye.

Wow, AI playing hurt? What else is new :)

Yea..hes a freakin' warrior alright. I love that commercial he did a few years ago where they point out all his previous injuries..it was insane.

March 16, 2008  11:09 AM ET

who are the rockets?

March 16, 2008  02:03 PM ET

He wants to be like Kobe. Who wants to be like Mike.

March 17, 2008  01:21 AM ET

I wonder if the finger he broke happened when he was leaving Philly and saying "good-bye' to Maurice Cheeks ???

Iverson = warrior. For him to be in the league this long, play the minutes he plays, scores the way he does, with the style he plays, and still plays hurt. Seriously, who wouldn't want him. A lot of players should take note. Definitely one of the greatest in my book.
