After a series of contract proposals were exchanged this week, the Broncos and kicker Jason Elam have decided to at least temporarily part ways Elam will visit the Falcons next week. There's a good chance Elam will know Thursday night where he will be employed in 2008.

A big mistake to let him go over a million dollar difference. But then the Broncos seem to be in the business of making big mistakes...A good, dependable kicker is worth it.

Elam is visiting the Falcons? Hmmmm......guess Morten will be out of a job soon. Someone call the AARP for him......age discrimination! LOL

Maybe Shanahan can fire him too

Whereever he goes, I wish him well. I've followed his career since his days at the good ol' University of Hawaii. Good luck whereever you end up Jason.

who cares... he's a kicker

March 15, 2008  10:50 AM ET

Elam should retire a Bronco...if he doesn't, it is a shame!

The World's Greatest....I bet you cared a lot who the kicker was when the Giants were playing the Packers in that play off game. I know I did. A reliable veteran kicker is worth millions when it comes down to winning or losing a game...Does the name Matt Bahr ring a bell? without him the Giants never get to , or win, the Super bowl in 1990.

Now these are the comments of a man that knows his stuff.

Hmmm, it appears Elam is forgetting one thing, the air in Denver is a little lighter and so therefore, the ball travels further. Perhaps he should stay put.

March 15, 2008  07:25 PM ET

Elam might get a "kick" out of free agency !!!

March 15, 2008  08:19 PM ET

Consider this. The Broncos have only 12 players on their roster that have been drafted by the team since Shanahan got there in '95. That is by far the lowest number of any team in the NFL. I think it is time the owner put in a GM and told Shanahan to start coaching. His teams have won one of their last five play off games...He is a walking EGO that is quickly losing his credibility.

My uncle will be angry if he signs with the Falcons cause my uncle works at a rec field where Morten kicks field goals.... so i hope Elam stays with Denver

March 15, 2008  09:01 PM ET

This could be the Falcons best move in free agency if they pick him up. Thats sad.

March 15, 2008  09:16 PM ET

50yearfan, you are truly a man that has got the right stuff. I've been trying to say the same thing for many months in my blogs.

March 15, 2008  09:50 PM ET

Elam would add the leader that the Falcons are looking for,he is a seasond vet and could help with the cemistry of the team

March 16, 2008  03:11 AM ET

They should keep him, Elam's ice.

March 16, 2008  04:43 PM ET

Yes.

March 16, 2008  04:57 PM ET

No.

March 17, 2008  12:04 PM ET

I don't think he's going anywhere...........

March 17, 2008  10:09 PM ET

He'll stay here. It's scary to think that Elam could be gone without retiring though. He was the best kicker in the NFL last season (three last second kicks to win or tie), and he's a lifelong Bronco. I will probably cry the day that Jason Elam is no longer a Bronco, and I'm not afraid to admit it. He'll end up signing here though.
