The Seahawks reportedly are mulling the release of running back Shaun Alexander, who is barely two seasons removed from rushing for more than 1,880 yards, 27 touchdowns and leading the Seahawks to their first Super Bowl berth. Alexander, 30, stopped by team headquarters last week and met with General Manager Tim Ruskell and Coach Mike Holmgren. "It's all good," Alexander told the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. If Alexander does move on, he'll get another chance. Probably another few million, too.

He's old, injury-ridden, and washed up.

March 16, 2008  03:09 PM ET

Perfect fit for the Raiders, that way they can overpay for him just like they did Wilson and Kelly.

March 16, 2008  03:18 PM ET

" And don't let the door hit you on the way out, Oh, and not sure you ever thanked me for giving you the 8 year 62 million dollar contract two years ago".....Coach Holmgren.

If he is released maybe the lions should sign him LOL

March 16, 2008  05:51 PM ET

they said corey dillon was old and done, and he put a nice couple of years together.so who ever does get him is gonna have a hell of a back this comeing season because he will be on a misson to prove a lot of people wrong. c-mon shaun you can join the pats.

I guess he should be okay with the Scabhawks. They gave a washed up RB boatloads of money for nothing the past two seasons. Bottom line is Alexander was never worth the monster deal. Once Steve Hutchinson left his production dipped huge, he became a tip-toeing ballerina again... he doesn't run hard anymore, plain and simple. The 'Hawks should buy him out and spend some money elsewhere.

alexander is by no means done, perhaps MIam i could us ehim.

March 17, 2008  01:05 AM ET

Alexander - "where's the money"??? Oopps I already got it - NEVER MIND !!!

March 17, 2008  07:35 AM ET

Alexander is a soft RB, and always has been, but benefitted from a great O-Line and FB for a number of years. He had better sign with a team that has a great line again, or his career will be over in a hurry. Never really liked him as a runner, certainly never liked the deal he signed. Won't shed any tears when he's gone either

March 17, 2008  02:27 PM ET

I'm hoping the Seahawks move on. They gave him to much money ..... then the 0-line went through some changes and he proved he's nothing without Strong or Hutchison - then he regressed to, as the man said, a tiptoing-ballerina again. I'll not be saddened by his departure either.

He be gettin old

to some people's comments about being alexander being old, yea that's true, but look how Mack Strong ran, and he's older than Alexander! yea he didn't carry as much as him, but he blocked...that wears you down, and he was still giving it his all! shaun's only good if the offensive line is good...so does that go for any RB? LT?...Stephen Jackson?....Addai?...whoever for that matter. i think the offensive line for any team is the most underrated part of the game. but it seems it's changing when people such as Hutch and Faneca are getting the type of contracts they're getting.

i will not be saddened either if shaun leaves...i will always have respect for him, he just doesn't have anything left in the tank!
