06:42 AM ET 03.17 | The Chiefs may look locally to fill a void on the offensive line. They were expecting to meet with free-agent center Justin Hartwig, who played at the University of Kansas. Hartwig has played six seasons in the NFL. Four years were with Tennessee and two with Carolina. Drafted by the Titans in the sixth round in 2002, Hartwig was a starter in four seasons. He was a reserve as a rookie in 2002 and missed most of the 2006 season because of a groin injury.

Great, so the Chiefs are going to ruin another players career??? And before any Chief Fans flame me, I am a chiefs fan, but i am boy-cotting until Herm's sorry **** is gone

What better place for an aging Offensive Lineman.....I used to like the Chiefs too.....Larry Johnson needs to have a huge year in 08

March 17, 2008  01:32 PM ET

Larry Jonhson=overrated!!!

lol, aging player? He's only in his sixth year. It is not uncommon for O-linemen to play into their 13th season and beyond. That means he is only at the halfway mark. The issues that should be looked at are "How bad is that groin injury of 2006 affecting Hartwig's current play" & "Why was he cut."

It just says they're going to meet with him. As soon as Carl insults him with a staggeringly low contract offer, he'll leave town laughing.

Seriously. Oh ya, and the Chiefs blow. Getting a real coach would be a good first step.

Herm Edwards is a good coach, but maybe better in the coordinator role....The Chiefs need more help than just coaching though. Look at your defense and every skill position on offense EXCEPT RB and TE. You need someone to throw the ball and someone else to catch it besides Gonzales.

All you guys are ass talkers, you dont know anything about the chiefs. here is a rule of thumb about posting comments on the internet : have a clue what you are talking about. The Chiefs DO have a great receiver: Ever heard of Dwayne Bowe? Herm Edwards is NOT the problem in KC - he inherited an old team, and even took it to the playoffs anyways in 2006. This lineman pickup would be a Great one.

Hey great job!!! But, who are the CHEFS? My favorite Snickers commercial

March 17, 2008  10:25 PM ET

I never said the Chiefs woes were herms fault..I am simply stating that he is a bad coach, period.

You play to win the game. You play to win the game.

Ohh sorry, I had a Herm Edwards moment!!!

March 18, 2008  01:25 PM ET

Hartwig is not a bad player.

Any help that KC can get on the once dominate o-line will improve this team with the a young QB, & WR with loads of potential!! Dont forget LJ was starting to get going before Hawk messed him up we still have teh greatest TE of all time playing for us. I pray that somehow we land Long (mich) during the draft....
