07:18 AM ET 03.17 | Like most NBA observers, LeBron James was tickled when he heard about DeShawn Stevenson's comments following last Thursday's Cavaliers game against the Washington Wizards. After the Cavs' loss, Stevenson said a number of things about James, including his belief that James is overrated. James said: "With DeShawn Stevenson, it's kind of funny. It's almost like Jay-Z [responding to a negative comment] made by Soulja Boy. It doesn't make sense." For those readers not cultured in hip-hop, Jay-Z is a hip-hop mogul while Soulja Boy is just a rapper.

Look for a 50 point response from LeBron the next time these two teams meet! Can you say "idiot"?

March 17, 2008  07:46 AM ET

Sal Paolantonio plays in the NBA now?

March 17, 2008  07:59 AM ET

The statement stevenson made was obviously stupid... LeBron's response was just as brilliant...

March 17, 2008  08:17 AM ET

the only time that james is overated is that when they say he is better than kobe..other than that deshawn stevens is soldier boy

March 17, 2008  08:27 AM ET

I'm a Wizard fan, and who really cares what DeShawn Stevenson thinks?

March 17, 2008  08:40 AM ET

jj730...you're a Wizards fan and a Cowboys fan??? anyways dumb thing to say by DeShawn. lets just hope we won't face 'em in the playoffs.

March 17, 2008  08:41 AM ET

It takes a helluva ego to say that about a guy who is one of the leading scorers in the NBA and who just led his ragtag team to the Finals last season. What has Stevenson ever done, other than help people lose the turnover category in Fantasy?????

Deshawn Stevenson serves his role with the team. Is his job to go out there and score 20 points and dish 8 assts every night? No. It's to make a couple of 3's and play good defense. Which he does. I've never seen Deshawn take a night off. The man is about 210-215 and was guarding Lebron in crunch time during that game. He gave up over 40-50 lbs to him and didn't give up. Now, is he the smartest person to call out LeBron? No. But don't discredit what the man's been doing on the court.

If I remember right, didn't Gilbert Arenas beat Deshawn Stevenson one-handed in a three point shootout of 100 shots? LeBron is going to make this guy look as stupid as Anthony Smith and Sal Paolantonio. But LeBron, just b/c you throw up a diamond hand sign doesn't mean you're "almost" close to Jay Z level. You're not even half way there yet bud. When you've been dominating your trade for ten years, then you can make the comparison. Until then, try and get better than Kobe b/c you're not even on that level yet.

March 17, 2008  09:16 AM ET

Stevenson is a journeyman "shooting" guard with a career average of 8 points a game. Why should anyone care what he has to say?

March 17, 2008  09:17 AM ET

You obviously haven't studies Orlando tape huh?

Field Marshall Sunny Day | 03/17/08, 09:13 AM

Naw, not too much. But I do know they did offer him a contract, which he turned down to sign with the Wizards.

March 17, 2008  09:17 AM ET

well, once you put it in hip hop terms, it all makes sense.

March 17, 2008  09:32 AM ET

James will "Superman" Stevenson. (Look this Souljah lyric up if you dont know it).

March 17, 2008  09:35 AM ET

Stevenson is right he is overhyped just like wack ass Jay Z no ****. Lebron gets mad calls, kinda like Tyler Hansboro. Go near him its a foul. Hes ok but there are better players not just Kobe.

March 17, 2008  09:57 AM ET

Stevenson is my man by default because of my devotion to the Wizards, however, of all the people in the NBA to say are overrated, LBJ (My favorite player) is the last one you would say. I hope we dont see the Cavs first round, it might be trouble

March 17, 2008  09:59 AM ET

JL_FORTE I thought I was the only one that saw Lebron compare himself to Jay-Z. I personally think that is the funniest thing in this whole conversation. The nerve of that guy, it was even worse than what Stevenson said.

If Lebron ever grows into those ears, he'll be dangerous.
