Alabama officials had no response to Florida media reports that Crimson Tide football coach Nick Saban may have committed an NCAA violation. UA officials would not comment on the specific incidents, nor would they address whether the charges have merit.

Saban cannot be trusted. And at the same time, Florida hates him right now.

May 24, 2007  12:41 PM ET

I just don't get that same feeling. What on earth has he done not to be trusted? It's not like he's known for lying about things. If he says he didn't do it everbody should just shut up and believe him. It's what tide fans do.

May 24, 2007  04:28 PM ET

This story has no legs. Its as simple as people not liking Saban and wanting to pile on when they get their shot. Im sure there arent any other coaches extending their "greeting" into a short conversation about what a good fit they would be at their school.

May 24, 2007  04:28 PM ET

What has he done to not be trusted?!?! Are you friggin joking? How about lie over and over about how he was committed to the Dolphins and how he would never even think about taking the Bama job. He looked the reporters and fans straight in the face and said there was no credence whatsoever to the rumors that he was considering going back to coach at the college level. And then, 1 day afer the season is over he is being introduced as the never Alabma coach. He is a no good low down lieing SOB. I'm not saying that he is not allowed to quit, or change his mind about where he wants to work. Just tell the truth or give a "no comment."

May 24, 2007  04:34 PM ET

Its a week story, that is brought to attention by south Florida, where they all hate Saban. Get a life you bunch of serious cry babies..

May 24, 2007  04:37 PM ET

Umm...it might be a good idea for saban to stay out of south florida for a while

May 24, 2007  04:38 PM ET

phins13, I'm pretty sure that was sarcasm by eyeofthetiger - everyone knows Saban lied constantly before leaving LSU and again before leaving Miami.

The main topic of this article, illegal contact with recruits, is something that got Saban in trouble at LSU (had to quit recruiting Jonathan Wade due to this, Wade ended up a Vol) so it's really no surprise he's doing the same thing. Virtually all college coaches skirt or slightly cross over the rules in this and other ways. Pete Carroll has Bush on a speakerphone so a recruit can hear him the day before signing, etc.

May 24, 2007  04:56 PM ET

Sorry, still a little pissed at the way Saban treated the Dolphins organization and their fans. I'm sure LSU feels the same way. At least he won you guys a championship before he took off. All he did in Miami was trade away draft picks for dubious players hampering the team for years to come.

May 24, 2007  05:22 PM ET

A leopord does not change its spot.

Not only is Saban a known liar. But he also has a long history of recruiting violations. Just ask some of the SEC and Big Ten schools that had to deal with this weazel when he was at LSU and MSU, respectively.

That being said, the story is not that he overextended the meaning of the term "greeting", which I'm sure 99% of the coaches do. But that it's Saban committing such violations in freaking South Florida. Idiotic and arrogant. Saban.

May 24, 2007  06:12 PM ET

That info came from Canesports, who pulled the article a couple of hours after posting it because a player denied what they had written. Canes are just mad because he was recruiting a Miami commit and he dumped the Dolphins. The media is looking to pounce on him at every turn. THAT he needs to understand. He's not at MSU or LSU anymore.

Alabama is a renegade program, always has been and always will be. They really think Saban will save that sorry program. 92,000 showing up at a spring game, that is embarassing, get a life Bama fans and as Vol fan I hope you continue to "Roll" right down the drain where you belong. We are coming down to pound you again this October. Enjoy Saban for 4 years! Lol, losers....

May 24, 2007  06:29 PM ET

Has Phat Phil given birth yet? You stupid, Great Pumpkin loving, 10RC vile!

May 24, 2007  06:35 PM ET

RENEGRADE PROGRAM like I said, and phat Phil is just fine, he said hello and is waiting to give you your annual third Saturday in October pounding!

May 24, 2007  06:38 PM ET

Phat Phil is 12-2 versus your renegade program so he is just fine thank you. I love beating you degenerates every year, I just feel sorry for your dogs when you get home after losing to UT every year!

May 24, 2007  06:40 PM ET

LOL! I hoped you enjoyed us being down because it's OVER! Phatty does less with more than any coach in the country. Enjoy your losing season this year!

May 24, 2007  06:40 PM ET

Look Alabama is a renegade program that will remain in the bottom of the SEC forever. Then need to build a wall around the state like the Mexico wall and stop all Bama fans from leaving the state, keep them breeding amongst themselves so they don't spoil the other 49 states!. Alabama will never win a NC again because of the rampant cheating and ridiculous fan base (see 92,000 for a spring game). You are all embarrassing and pitiful!

May 24, 2007  06:41 PM ET

Losing season, LOL, you need to stay off the drugs buddy!

May 24, 2007  06:49 PM ET

If Phatty would give 10RC fans something good to see, maybe UTk could get that many toothless hillbillies into Kneeland Stadium. I doubt it, unless they had a halftime tractor pull!

May 24, 2007  06:52 PM ET

You'd figure that for 4 million a year Saban could afford a copy of the NCAA rules...

Alabama came within inches of the Death Penalty the last time they screwed up; they better keep a good eye on this boy.

Slick Nick Satan + Renegede Program = Death Penalty!
