Chad Johnson's offseason of discontent could be headed for its first showdown with the Bengals. The Bengals wide receiver, in a series of Los Angeles-based television appearances, said he would not participate in the team's offseason strength and conditioning program beginning Monday. "I will not be there," he said during a late afternoon stop at Current TV and Current.com. "There are a lot of issues that need to be dealt with. Nothing has changed."

he's such a media wh*re..... His loss if he doesn't want to condition. Or maybe he'll just set up the nice bench press in the driveway....

Another malcontent Bengal did the same thing in the 70s and his career turned out ok...Charlie Joiner. Hey as a Steeler fan please leave and take your talent out of the division....go to the NFC.

The guy is in great shape every year like TO. He said he will start his conditioning in April with his trainer. The conditioning program is not mandatory, he does get 250K or 350k for going. But he makes enough not to need it. He is still a top WR, on a losing squad that does not act like they appreciate his services. This is not a story. IF it was training camp instead of a please come and participate event then it would be a story. And by the way this is the first one he has missed since being in the league.

Hmmm...Chad is that you?

March 19, 2008  10:08 AM ET

I saw an ESPN interview yesterday with Johnson. It's obvious this guy no longer wants to be with the Bengals. It's time to let him go before he becomes a cancer in the locker room.

Hey, TO won't like it that some one is out doing him for media attention now that TO has turned over a new leaf! Or has he????? I am yet to be convienced..

Dear Chad for you being such a **** we are shipping you off to Oakland - The Cincy Brass.

As a die hard Bengals Fan and Season ticket holder, this chocharoni's behavior is hilarious and distracting. First off, for me to take you seriously Chad, its Ochenta y Cinco (85) not Ocho Cinco. You would think that the 30+ million in extension money you got, would at least pay for a decent Spanish translator. To show my unwavering support Chad, I will shave all hair and wear a baby bonnet with a Chad Jersey to all games next year.

let him go ... the Bengals would be a better team without the distraction, the ego, and the lack of knowing how to be a winner -- almost any mook who WANTS to play and recognizes how rare it is for an athlete to make it to the pros would/could contribute more than this publicity-hound, no matter how much the guys at ESPN praise him and his dumb 'look at me' antics
