Houshmandzadeh upset, too

Cincinnati wide receiver Chad Johnson already has stated he does not plan to attend the Bengals' voluntary offseason conditioning program that starts Monday. But he is not going to be alone. Cincinnati's other Pro Bowl wide receiver, T.J. Houshmandzadeh, also is expected to skip the start of the voluntary conditioning program for some of the same reasons Johnson is not attending. It sets up one of the stickiest situations in the NFL, an issue that threatens to hang over the team until and through training camp. Cincinnati has two Pro Bowl wide receivers, each of whom believes he is underpaid, each of whom wants a new deal, each of whom is expected to be absent from Paul Brown Stadium for the start of Monday's offseason drills. Houshmandzadeh is in the final year of four-year contract that is scheduled to pay him a base salary of $2.525 million. He failed to show up to the Bengals' offseason conditioning program last season and, without a new deal before this year's offseason conditioning program, Houshmandzadeh is not about to attend now. It is the reason he is not expected Monday or anytime shortly thereafter.

I agree that he needs a new contract. I just cant stand that these guys sign a contract for a certain amount of money and THEN decide they are worth more so they sit out. What happened to living up to your obligations.

Jeesh what a way to kill a team's hopes....What a coupleof selfish ****!! Most fans of theother AFC North teams like to poke fun at the Brown family but now I am in sympathy. Tell these two turds to shut up and freakin play

This is what happens when you let a show boating derelict like Chad Johnson stay around.. he poisons the whole team.

They sign a contract with more money up front and then when they are not making the same amount towards the end they want a new contract. They need to start getting a fixed amount every year otherwise this is gonna with every dbag "getting underpaid"

Complaining about 2 million!?!

With that picture he looks more like Hush!-manzadeh.

It appears to me his grandparents Lucille and Billy Joe Jackson thought their surnames were boring. Solution:.....dump a scabble board on the floor and piece together the first 6 dozen letters and voila!......Houshmandzadeh!!!!

Harmony in the clubhouse, gotta love it.

March 20, 2008  10:08 AM ET

It's "voluntary" who cares?

March 20, 2008  10:15 AM ET

Who does he have as an agent? Drew Rosenhaus? With the price of gas and everything, I don't understand how a man can live on $2.525 million a year.

March 20, 2008  10:25 AM ET

Bring him to Dallas too.

March 20, 2008  10:31 AM ET

T.J. does have a right to be mad. You see how much Javon Walker is making? And he's nowhere near as good as him. And plus, the word is "voluntary" too. He doesn't have to show up at all.

PAy TJ and trade the hanging chad for a mid to late first rounder with somebody (preferably not in the AFC), with the exception of Miami. Only because they should not be a threat for a t least 2 to 3 years.

The Bungles are a joke. It starts from the top down. They hired Marvy Lewis. He has noones respect, players shoot off at the mouth constantly. Players have been arrested by the dozen. They lose. This team is Mickey Mouse, minus the fun.
