Buckeyes have Pryor concerns

I talked to someone very close to the Ohio State football program yesterday and he was very concerned about the road ahead for young Terrelle Pryor. The adjustment to college is not going to be an easy one after you've been told for so long that you are the greatest player in the history of mankind. The hope, this Ohio State person told me, is that the school can help Pryor adjust and handle his surroundings the way basketball star Greg Oden did.

I hope they really do step in an help him. Though football players can't leave until after their junior year, unlike bball players. So he needs to adjust for at least 3 years.

Hopefully the Buckeyes can keep him grounded, I would hate to see another Maurice Clarret situation.

Looks like T R O U B L E for "the" OSU.

I got two words for you. Maurice Clarret. Pryor is another Prima Donna that will expect special treatment and for the Bucks to do special things for him. He will be disgruntled and cause problems.

March 21, 2008  07:27 AM ET

Anyone that thanks he is so special that he can wait and make 4 major colleges hold a scholarship JUST for him, shows how arrogant he really is.

March 21, 2008  07:29 AM ET

Isn't this something just called life? Why feel so concerned? Kids are so babied these days.

March 21, 2008  08:32 AM ET

Better tell the sucker that he won't be playing on a team (OSU) that will win the National Chamionship any time soon. Sucker should have signed with an SEC powerhouse.

Dang typo: Championship

March 21, 2008  08:50 AM ET

He's definitely high on himself.

March 21, 2008  08:52 AM ET

Prior will be a great osu player and will be another mike vick in the nfl

March 21, 2008  09:09 AM ET

Ohio State will be fine and Pryor will be fine. They will handle it well.

March 21, 2008  09:20 AM ET

He certainly has an ego but who wouldn't in his situation. Remember, he did choose to go to a school where he knew he would not start right away instead of going to Michigan where he was told that the program would be built around him. If he is such a prima dona, why wouldn't go to a place where he would be "THE MAN" from day one? That says a lot about what he is thinking. Comparing him to Maurice Clarret and Michael Vick is just plain wrong. The kid has not committed any crime! Give the kid a chance. He was made a prima dona by his entire community, lets see what happens when he becomes a college athlete at a large university before we cast dispersions.

March 21, 2008  09:26 AM ET

Every day another story about this unproven athlete... Damn slow news days!

The media, community, fans, recruiters and whomever else you want to blame this on did NOT make this kid an petulant, arrogant, disrespectful, trash-talking jerk. Looks like he did that all by himself. The more reports that come out about this kid and the way he conducts himself, the more worries I'd have if I was an OSU fan. I'm not ready to call him a criminal or compare him to Clarret or Vick, but he has the potential to cause MAJOR headaches for a program that may be poised for a Title run. IMO

March 21, 2008  09:38 AM ET

Pryor stated that one of the reasons he chose OSU is because he would NOT have to step right in (as with Michigan) to be the "Man". That he would get a year to play behind a senior and maybe used as Tebow was with Leak at UF. If his words are true, then I think that shows promise.

March 21, 2008  09:57 AM ET

lol i like to consider myself 'very close to the Ohio State program' and an "OSU Person." What kind of joke ass story is this with an un-named source from an Atlanta newspaper with no Big 10 contacts?

Given the way the Fulmer Cup is going, I'd worry more about your respective program and not Ohio State's which has been almost entirely clean since the Mo-Clarette saga.

March 21, 2008  09:57 AM ET

hey packman, if you are able to predict the future, what are you even doing on this page? obviously you are a fan of some team that TP didn't even consider. if TP would have chose your school, i seriously doubt you would have made an idiotic statement like that.
just curious, did you see the future for clarett when he was running all over people or did you simply say "i knew it" when clarett fell.

March 21, 2008  10:25 AM ET

he's a **** and I don't like him

March 21, 2008  10:34 AM ET

I see Pryor alot like Troy Smith and say what you want about the NC game, he was/is a helluva player. He had some growing up to do, the coaches at OSu helped him and he thrived and became one of the best college football players in recent history. Pryor will be developed jus tlike that, I dont have any comcerns.

Big Mo was a black eye, but the kid made one bad decisions after another, then went against OSU, so the school couldnt help him. Every school is going to have porblems, but the kid isnt even on campus yet and he's getting bagged.

Bottom line if he would have signed at your school, you wouldnt be posting hate.

March 21, 2008  10:35 AM ET

As long as they still let Pryor have his corvette, he'll be fine!

All kidding aside, OSU will do the right thing and help him along to get acclimated. But we won't know as to what type of baller he'll be until he actually starts. One thing is for sure, the other QBs that will be competing against him will not let up on him. He'll have to prove again that he's all that.
