Nolan not playing for lottery

At least the consolation prize could be huge for the Islanders. Every loss brings them a better shot at the lottery and a difference-making No. 1 overall pick, center Steven Stamkos. Except that is no consolation for coach Ted Nolan and the players who are here now. Nolan may have been more upset with his team this week than he has been all season. He issued a rare public rebuke after a desultory 3-1 loss to the Maple Leafs on Tuesday, then was displeased with them after a deliberately hard workout Wednesday.

I gave them a private rebuke for not beating the Leafs.
Maybe he should have told them to shoot more...FROM BEHIND THEIR BLUE LINE!

Yeah right, if the Islanders were playoff bound the 15 year goalie wouldn't have had season ending hip surgery. No team will ever admit to purposely losing for a draft pick.

Good point Durk.

No, why would they? They would just turn around and trade it away anyway. Or select another goalie to make it 10 in a row. It's great to see that the Smyth deal panned out.
