NFL spokesman Greg Aiello offered an update on negotiations with former Patriots employee Matt Walsh, who claims to have additional material that could be relevant to the Patriots' illicit videotaping practices. Aiello said lead attorneys on both sides, Walsh's lawyer, Michael N. Levy of McKee Nelson, and NFL outside counsel Gregg Levy (no relation), are working on documentation. Aiello said "things continue to progress." The sides announced March 9 they made "substantial progress" toward an agreement that would allow Walsh to come forward.

The fat lady hasn't sung yet on this mess.

Im not sure anyone other than the President can help Matt Walsh from any criminal charges if he is found to have done something criminal. Taping signals isnt a crime, with or without his bosses knowledge. Wiretapping or taping conversations however is. Im with Loki on this, Im not so sure the NFL can offer immunity for anything. Neither can the Patriots. This immunity wont be worth the paper its written on.
Then again, Im not a white collar crime attorney. Come to think of it, Im not an attorney at all. Damn.

Im curious as to why he hadnt said anything prior to this year.

March 21, 2008  08:45 AM ET

maybe hes hoping with this immunity, he can get a wrongeful termination suit against the Pats? I mean Pioli said he was fired for taping conversations with HIM but what if they found out he taped the Rams? and they fired him for THAT? Now with the whole spygate thing out there, he thinks he can just say "they told me to do it" and file a lawsuit?
Dunno what his motivation is or what he has, but I for one wanna see it

Spygate, FA defections, ageing LB's, "GQ" celeb. QB,and a "tapeless in New England" coaching staff, add up to a team that will not produce another "perfect"... lol, season.

Who knows, maybe in the end that will work out for the better for them, after all their coach is an evil genius....Right ?

March 21, 2008  11:46 AM ET

Evil genius? Well, Pioli has been brilliant. Belicheat? Except for the last Super Bowl, he has been competent. I guess I still remember Belicheat's time in Cleveland too well to think that he's solely responsible for the Patriots' success.

March 21, 2008  12:08 PM ET

If YOU were the Pats, and you were CONVINCED that you hadn't done anything wrong, why wouldn't you step forward and INSIST that this guy be given whatever he wants in order to reveal what he has... since the draft is only a few weeks away, wouldn't you think they'd want to get all this behind them?
Would YOU want to sign/resign with this team knowing that they might be about to suffer some horrible unknown upheaval?

March 21, 2008  12:09 PM ET

Yup,

They're also going after the Cowboys(filming up in a tree), the Dolphins(Jimmy Johnson admitted it), the Giants, the Colts, the Chargers, and every other team for their tape libraries...

Except the Jets..the NFL is giving the Jets more tapes to try to help Mangina..
