Chris Chelios has been invaluable to the Red Wings time and again, accepting a role as primarily a third-pairing guy and penalty killer, but always willing and able to do more if needed. Barring a disastrous playoff run, he's as good as guaranteed another season.

"he's as good as guaranteed another season."

As well he should be.

Chelios is in great shape for his age. He almost never gets caught out of position, and is a good leader. He understands his role on the team, and is probably being prepped to coach in the Red Wing system in the future.

If the Wings didn't want him, and they most certainly should, there are an awful lot of teams out there that would welcome his talents, heart and leadership skills.

you heard it here first, when this guy matures in a couple of seasons, he's gonna really be something, this is one guy to keep your eye on!

Chelly, keep playing, man. If everyone had this guy's heart, pro sports would be very different. He is the last of a much tougher era. This guy could have played alongside of Eddie Shore and fit right in.

Are you guys serious? Have you watched him in games? Look, I am amazed that he is able to play out there at his age, but it's time for the Red Wings to move on. His shots rarely get through the forwards, and he turns the puck over a lot. In addition, he tends to take a lot of penalties because of his temper. The Wings have a lot of good young defensemen, like Ericsson, and it's time to start bringing them into the lineup. If they bring back Stuart, their top 6 D would be: Lidstrom, Rafalski, Stuart, Kronwall, Lebda and Ericsson. That's a pretty solid defense. Why bring back Chelios?
