Which Trojans will go pro?

Consider this possible USC starting lineup: Returning starters O.J. Mayo, Taj Gibson, Davon Jefferson and Daniel Hackett, plus five-star recruit DeMar DeRozan. Then ponder this one: DeRozan, Hackett, Mamadou Diarra, Keith Wilkinson and Dwight Lewis. While Mayo is expected to become a lottery pick, the status of Gibson and Jefferson is less certain. Gibson, a sophomore, is projected as a borderline first-round pick and Jefferson's recent performances appear to have dropped him into the second round. Sharon Gibson, Taj's mother, said Friday that her son remained conflicted about his future.

After what I saw against KSU; all of of them need to stay. Although I doubt that will occur.

March 22, 2008  09:29 AM ET

I was surprised to see USC lose in the opening round of the NCAA tournament.

March 22, 2008  09:50 AM ET

Taj Gibson and OJ Mayo will go pro and suck once they get there.

March 22, 2008  09:50 AM ET

You were surprised? They were just another overrated Pac-10 team just like Arizona and Oregon, both who had no reason for being in the tourney.

March 22, 2008  10:00 AM ET

Why did OJ pick USC when USC wasn't even recruiting him? Because he wanted the media attention prior to him turning pro. If Mayo can turn pro he will. USC was just a pit stop for him. Oh, and don't forget he wanted his turn at using Kim Kardashian as his personal blow up doll.

March 22, 2008  10:39 AM ET

No mention of Lil' Romeo, lol?

March 22, 2008  10:59 AM ET

Haters all over the place. First of all, All of them need to stay, learn from Gabe Pruitt. Secondly, how about K-State being a good team? It was a bad match-up for SC because KSU was too big & physical in the front-court. Thirdly, overrated PAC 10? The PAC-10 wasn't the only conference that had teams get bounced in the opening round. The ACC, SEC, Big East, & Big 10 all had teams lose to underdogs. 'Zona & Oregon were supposed to lose based on their seeding. Clemson, Vanderbilt, UConn & Indiana were supposed to win.

....Mayo goes for money....thats the reason he went to USC...TO MARKET HIMSELF. not to win basketball game. idc whatb happens to everyone else

March 22, 2008  12:53 PM ET

I don't know why everybody hates on Mayo...he's not a bad dude or a selfish dude...if you knew his backstory you would see that...until then just stop the hatin'...theres no need for it

March 22, 2008  01:10 PM ET

Mayo is 20. Gibson is 22 and Jefferson is 21. They all go pro now before they get even older.

Gibson especially.

March 22, 2008  01:32 PM ET

Why is reporting actual facts about Mayo and his intentions confused with hatred? I have no hate for him at all. He's one smart guy and I don't fault him for what he's doing. I'd do the same thing if I was in his shoes. The only thing where we'd probably differ (though I am guessing) is that I'd go back in the off season to continue taking classes to eventually get my degree. I am not sure if Mayo will do that.

I do have hate for Bush. I hope the NCAA comes down hard on him and USC.

March 22, 2008  02:46 PM ET

not a hater but not a fan either but i think Mayo might just end up like jj reddick in the pros...

March 22, 2008  03:28 PM ET

mayo will be a star in the NBA
i dont no if i can say the same about gibson and if i were jedderson i would stay 1 more year
he really needs it

March 22, 2008  03:57 PM ET

oj majo will take a year but he will be a nice solid player when he gets there

are you serious about other conferences getting beat..you said the big east got upset by teams...we went 7-1 in the opening round of the tourny with the only loss coming from uconn who lost their best player...i dont know what tournament you're watching but i know it's played in fantasy land.

Warden, the Kim Kardashian stuff is factual? Your Wolverines can't beat SC so you're hoping for some type of sanctions from the NCAA, huh? Sour grapes...

Sneaker kid, remove the "s" from "teams". My team's Louisville, but I root for the PAC 10, so get off my head.

March 22, 2008  05:57 PM ET

O.J. will end up in Milwaukee or Toronto, never to be heard from again. The other guys in NBDL (or whateva) purgetory...

March 22, 2008  07:31 PM ET

Being a "Trojan" you have to consider your options and "play it safe" !!!

March 22, 2008  08:03 PM ET

Taj Gibson could hang in the NBA, but the others need to stay.
