Will Arenas land in Los Angeles?

Basketball News reported that both Los Angeles teams will pursue Washington free agent Gilbert Arenas, which came as news to the Lakers, who have all the stars, not to mention salary, they need. As for the Clippers, who'd have dreamed it? Oh yeah, everybody. With Shaun Livingston questionable and Corey Maggette available for a sign-and-trade, the Clippers -- who pursued Arenas, who's from here, in 2004 -- are interested. Arenas, out since November after knee surgery, wants to return, but there's concern it's too soon.

Never happen. Nobody else wil get any more of Kobe's shots.

Why fix something that isn't broken? Besides, this team already has a couple gunners. One more would only make them worse off.

Since the Lakers have to share their arena with the Clippers, the Clips should have to share their players with the Lakers. Say, Fish wants the day off, we borrow Arenas that evening. Or, Bynum twists his ankle, we can use Kaman for two, three weeks. I think it's fair.

Drunk Eli, that was very funny. But it would be kind of cool.

March 23, 2008  02:40 PM ET

no way the lakers are getting arenas..

March 23, 2008  02:47 PM ET

a great player like him should go to a team that isn't lousy. if he can be matched up with a team where he can excel than maybe. Or possible the clippers could put together a big time deal like the celtics did. it would be neat to see them compete for a change.

There once was a team whos starting line up consisted of Bryant. O'neal, Karl Malone, Gary Payton + bench. They failed to win it all. Having a star team doesn't guarantee a championship g13player!

March 23, 2008  03:17 PM ET

I think people are forgetting that Arenas stated that he'd still like to remain as a Wizard, just that he wants a new contract which is why he's opting out.

Regardless, if he does go to either LA team, that would be pretty nasty.

True, but keep in mind Karl Malone and Gary Payton were getting pretty old.

With that lineup, all those players would be in their prime or not quite there.

March 23, 2008  04:09 PM ET

lakers are loaded with talent, they dont need areanas, just need their guard back along with bynum.

March 23, 2008  04:40 PM ET

the clippers can have him and the lakers can sign jesse l martin and no one will know the difference

March 23, 2008  06:28 PM ET

Yeah and maybe the lakers can get Lebron and the Matrix and Chris Bosh too!!!! There's this thing called the Salary cap and w/ Kobe, Odom and Gasol's contracts they can't sign Arenas. He'll never go to the clippers because he somehow believes he's in the Lebron, Dwade, Kobe stratosphere so he won't go to LA and play 2nd fiddle to Kobe and lose 50 games a year...ask Marion how that being #1 option for the Heat is working out for him right now.

March 23, 2008  10:37 PM ET

I agree with PointofView. How on earth will the Lakers stay under the cap unless Arenas signs a minimum?

March 23, 2008  10:38 PM ET

Maybe - if he ever gets off the "perpetual" disabled list !!!

March 24, 2008  01:01 AM ET

Please don't waste your time with the Clippers.

March 24, 2008  03:07 AM ET

A lot of guys dont get it. Arenas will not sign a minimum nor settle for a small contract. A sign and trade with either LA teams will make it happen. Odom with Others for the Lakers while Maggette with Others for the Clippers. This will be good for the Lakers as they already have a bunch of players for the small forward position and to be competitive with the great PGs in the west like Paul, D. Williams, and Nash
