Who's under gun at Martinsville?

Next week at Martinsville David Reutimann will be the man in Dale Jarrett's No. 44 on the Cup side. Still, Reutimann isn't really under that much pressure. David Ragan, on the other hand, is. Ragan, the man that Jack Roush picked to take Mark Martin's Cup ride last year, has struggled. But Ragan was a teammate of a man who has won at Nashville many times, Carl Edwards. A man who will really be under the gun next week at Martinsville is rookie Michael McDowell, who is taking Reutimann's Cup seat. McDowell, just 24, will be making his first Cup tour start at Martinsville. He's already guaranteed a spot in the field, through the points that Reutimann accumulated in that car. McDowell is pretty much a raw rookie, although he did win four ARCA races last season and finished second in that series' championship race. He led more laps than any other ARCA driver, and he ran fifth in the Talladega ARCA race.

Somewhat informative article....I say they are all under the gun and throw Jr into that mix as still looking for his first win in over two years.

David Ragan is under the gun at Roush? I believe the guy under the gun is Jamie McMurray. The guy has finished 26th, 22nd, 25th, 40th, and 43rd in the first five races this season and is sitting 36th in points. He doesn't even have a guaranteed spot in each race...and they say David Ragan is under the gun.

yeah , I don't know what Jamie has over Jack, but there must be a reason why Jack puts up with Jamies sub par performances. That team and the cars were defending Champions when Mcmurry got it. three yrs. later it's out of the top thirty five?! I know he has had some bad luck not all of it his fault, but he has only ran mid pack 90% of the time. I know he won last year and had a great race at the glen, but that is it

Didn't Ragan make his first Cup start at Martinsville a year ago and wreck like 9 times, taking out a few good cars in the process? Should be fun to have another rookie making his first start there this year. I'm sure the other drivers are thrilled. If he takes out somebody good, he may very well find himself literally under a gun...

Does it boil down to the fact that people are being put into the cars well before they are ready? What is the purpose of the Nationwide Series? Someone needs to figure it all out.... my heads hurts & I need another drink!
