Bulls ponder offseason moves

Although the Bulls believe they need an upgrade over Kirk Hinrich, the belief is they'd go for Michael Beasley if they got first pick and Derrick Rose if they got the second. I could also see them pursuing a star player in perhaps a sign-and-trade with Washington for Gilbert Arenas, sort of a go-for-broke summer. Perhaps Elton Brand tells the Clippers he won't re-sign and the Clippers cash in for a package that includes Hinrich, Andres Nocioni and the Bulls' first pick. And if Nene gets healthy, the Nuggets have to move someone.

i'd hate to see hinrich leave, but if we're getting arenas...maybe it wouldn't be so bad, but i'd rather they kept the core for one more year and signed deng to a long contract

March 24, 2008  09:13 AM ET

i dont see any of it happening...truly i dont..

and why get rid of elton brand when was a young stud and now try and get him when it costs too much...we got him with OUR first round pick and now they want 2 players AND a pick?

SERIOUSLY the leagues gone retarded...and looking at it now...knowing we could have had Kobe for Deng and a couple other pieces...

im shoving a butcher knife right up the ol whazoo right now thinking of what could have been...thabo...joakim, gray, KOBE.....gooden, hughes...i mean come on we just bulit up height AND talent....thats a championship calibur team....

im only saying that because yeah the trade makes no sense NOW because well Kobe is happy again and his management knows how to make a team.

March 24, 2008  09:13 AM ET

oh and considering deng and gordon are pretty much useless this year......

March 24, 2008  11:02 AM ET

i was never a fan of capt. kirk or gordon for that matter..they a couple of midgets in a midget backcourt, trade their **** e s..

Huh? I'll pack his bags for him and get him a cab. Gordon and Deng are gone.

March 24, 2008  11:24 AM ET

Hey, we can trade JR Smith for Hinrich. We need a decent point guard.

March 24, 2008  11:46 AM ET

Do we always have to hear about crap trades from the Chi town newspapers. its so stupid. The Gilber thing could happen though.

March 24, 2008  01:14 PM ET

Hinrich is a good point guard, but his supporting cast needs to step it up. Can't put all the blame on him. I don't think the Bulls should go for Beasley because they got Lou Deng playing the same position. BIG MISTAKE.

Why would Elton Brand go back to the Bulls? Going from the frying pan into the fire, if you ask me!

March 24, 2008  01:42 PM ET

Hinrich is not a good point guard, he hardly gets 10 assists ever and he never gets more than like 4 repounds or steals in a game.......he is not a good point guard, hes prolly a good shooting guards since thats what he played in College. And bringing elton brand i agree is a bad idea, remember hes might be past his prime, he had a bad injury and hes not that talll....the bulls dont need any more shorties

You're obviously a Bulls fan and I give you props for that. Hinrich got 10 assists last night by the way...haha. Show me how many point guards get over 10 assists and more than 4 rebounds. there are some, but only a few. Hinrich wont get a lot of steals but he sticks with his man- he was on the All Defensive team last year. Also, Arenas would be a bad fit- Bulls need a big man who can score, not a small guy who can score. I don't know what all the hate is about Hinrich. He started off bad and has since picked up his game. Boylan has been mixing up the lineup to spark something and Kirk has suffered statistically from that. The problem with the Bulls is they have too much raw talent. Trade for a big guy who can score and see what happens!!!

March 24, 2008  02:39 PM ET

The Bulls just need to accept a contract already. They need to understand they are not MVP players, just quit whining and complaining and work together. This team has a ton of potential and just lost focus this year. They are still very young. If they can just work out a contract and get a good coach, I think they can become a very good team.

March 24, 2008  05:12 PM ET

I would offer Deng and Gorden 1/2 of what was offered in the extensions and tell them they will be coming off the bench neither one of them should be starters. I think thier agents should cough up the difference since they gave them bad advice. I do not see any team wanting them after watching them play this season. Both players have reached thier potential and will not get any offers even close to what they passed up. They are wasted investments at this point with no value, not even trade value at this point

March 24, 2008  05:57 PM ET

i dnt wanna hear anything about All Defensive Team.. im so tired of watchin Capt Kirk drive the lane then dribble back out and wind up on the bench with foul trouble... unless Gordon suddenly learns to play the point the Bulls need to trade up to bring Rose back to Chicago

March 24, 2008  09:19 PM ET

the problem is that we paid kirk, and it is going to be hard to get rid of him and he is an overrated defender. It would be hard to see deng go just because he has so much potential and will be a stud someday in this league. Don't give me that he shouldn't start **** that is just not true. assuming we are keeping hughes, BG has to go there is unfortunately not enough room for him, unless its off the bench and for less money. Bringing gilbert in will not help anything: i can't imagine having hibachi and larry hughes on the same team that would be unbearable. brand is past his prime but he would be a good teacher for ty tom and noah if we could keep them. bottom line is we need a new coach and if pax doesn't succeed soon, unfortunately we will need a new GM with a new direction for this franchise

March 24, 2008  09:27 PM ET

Hibachi and Hughes on the same team? I'd rather shoot myself than watch that tandem play on da bulls. Kirk is and overrated defender lets not lie to ourselves but unfortunately we paid him, not deng or BG. To say that deng can't start is retarted, by the way. there was a reason the lakers wouldn't give us kobe without him and we don't want to trade him. Brand is past his prime but can still do some damage and would help noah and ty tom a lot, whereas gooden only shows them what facial hair not to have. bottom line is we need a new coach and if paxson doesn't preform in the next couple years we will need a new GM as well to overhaul this ****

March 24, 2008  11:24 PM ET

This off season should be a very interesting one. The Bulls have alot of players that need to be moved, and there are alot of teams that will come to the realization that they can't win as currently consructed. This reality makes trades very likely, and that's a good thing for a team like the Bulls. My biggest problem is whether or not Paxson have the courage or know how to make the right basketball decisions. Personally, I would like to see the following players shipped out: Noce, Hughes, Gooden and Gordon.

Here is a deal that I've been trying to push on another website:

Bulls get Marbury and M. Williams
Knicks get Carter and Hassell
Nets get Hughes, Gooden and Balkman

Make the above deal happen Pax, and draft Anthony Randolph if he's available in June.

March 24, 2008  11:35 PM ET

how does that trade help the Bulls?

March 24, 2008  11:50 PM ET

They dump two players that they will never seriously contend with, and get Marbury's expiring contract. He'll never play a game with the Bulls, just a contract to be bought out.

I agree that paxon has blown a few trades that angered me, I am not a fan of kobe, but I would have rather seen him than to watch this team struggle so much. I also agree we paid hinrich to much for his service, I am so frustrated over the constant missed shots by all of them. I do not agree that the contract issue is getting in the way, They just do not have the talent to over come the contract issue. Deng and Gorden put the pressure of the contract issue on them selfs by not signing them when they had a chance, Good players make shots, we also have no leader on the team. No one is willing to become a leader and take over this team. Deng is getting to the point where he is so predictable, every one knows he is gonna slash to the lane and they are all ready for it and either gets stuffed or comes up short and misses.
