Burton wrestling with new car

With the new car having its own unique challenges, Jeff Burton believes physical fitness is more important than ever because the drivers have to wrestle the race car. "I think it is true," Burton said. "I think that these cars require more tension. You can't let your guard down, mentally. What happened to me at California, I was running the high line and I missed my mark by a foot and hit the wall. You've got to mentally be on it, you've got to physically be on it."

I dropped a cyclinder on my Yugo and got passed by a moped yesterday...you think you got problems.
Jeff put into words why Nascar is sport - the doubters can shut up.

A driver who claims a wreck was ENTIRELY HIS FAULT?!?! I knew Jeff Burton was a class act.....

The reality is: The harder it is to drive the car right on the edge of traction, more likely the drivers will all just tool around at a controlled speed for 400 laps, "stay outta trouble" and get ready to start driving real hard in last 50 as you start to plan your end-of-the-race strategy. Sounds alot like what happens now, before and all through the history of Nascar.

hey that only adds up to 450. DOH!! yuk-yuk..

mlbfan76 | 03/24/08,

Two things mlbfan:
1. Please go to the WWE website you are referring to, duh.
2. Apparently you are a MLB fan, frankly that equals WWE with use of steriods. Also, I have quit baseball, that is the biggest joke of sport after all records have been blatently tarnished in the last 20 years.

March 24, 2008  12:57 PM ET

Oh yeah, my photo is of a baseball that is signed by Babe Ruth, back when it was baseball.

March 24, 2008  02:23 PM ET

Burton is right, he's lucky it was Cali and not Dega. A lapse in judgment at Dega is catastrophic

Hey Jackman how about when Nascar was old school where the jackman would be smoking a butt right next to the gasman, the only helmets worn were on the drivers, every pit did not two Nascar goof ball officals dressed up looking like goofballs, God I hate those idiots, makes the entire sport look stupid. Oh yea, yellow flags all day doesn't make for good racing either.
Ditto on Baseball, Hammerin' Hank would have hit 2000 homers in today's mockery of the game.

March 24, 2008  03:47 PM ET

wow someone talking about the wwe in a nascar post

March 24, 2008  04:18 PM ET

Where the hell you been Hammered? And dont tell me busy. That post is funny. I am tired as hell reading the WWE comparison. Drives me nuts. Its more appropiate to compare baseball to WWE.......
Is there any photos of the gasman smoking lol

March 24, 2008  05:44 PM ET

I've been hammered Jackman.

March 24, 2008  06:24 PM ET

Same here.....you need to move to the bible belt and be saved lol.
Did you go to the Vegas race? Heard they serve there.

March 24, 2008  07:28 PM ET

They told me to go to rehab and I said NO NO NO

March 24, 2008  08:27 PM ET

Hey whoa, my apologies all, Yes I am an MLB fan but I am a huge Nascar fan as well. I just figured slow news day, I would try to get a chuckle out of everyone. Being from WV, grew up with Nascar and pro wrestling. with all the Nascar guys going to TNA just thought I would throw a little humor out to what I thought was a slow news day. My apologies if anyone was offended... Geez..

No big deal mlbfan - we see the nonsport or WWE thing everyday. It just gave me a chance to rant about baseball. It felt good too, so thanks for getting me awake today on a Monday.

Sing it jkindel - we will know you are in trouble when you get the beehive hair cut lol

March 24, 2008  10:39 PM ET
