Georgia avoids NCAA violation
With the threat of an NCAA rules violation hanging in the balance, Georgia coaches told Henry County receiver Jamal Patterson to skip Saturday's junior day. When Georgia coaches learned late last week that Patterson was scheduled to participate in a Georgia High School Association-sanctioned track meet and attend junior day in Athens on Mar. 22, they told the junior to delay his visit until early April.

so does this mean that Georgia would have knowingly violated some rule if the NCAA hadn't warned them first?

UGA didn't avoid anything, the once again proved they run a clean ship, the headline is rediculous, but thats standard for the AJC.

Between this story, the retirement of some golf agent, Tiger NOT buying an island, an article on an attorney.... it gives a whole new meaning to March Madnesss! Speaking of which, isn't there supposed to be some great tournament, or something, going on right now? Gee, you'd hardly know it!

No, the UGA coaches caught this one on their own: the 'avoids' was referring to the fact that the kid hadn't told them he was participating in a sanctioned HS athletic event in the same day. When they did learn that he is going to be in a track meet that day, they told him that he was going to have to wait until the G-Day game to do his 'Junior day' in Athens.
It's retarded: most of these 'rumors' here are only 'rumors' because because they inaccurately or partially reference the news items they use as a source.

The way this is written makes it look and sound much worse than it really was. Joeski has it right. UGA did the right thing and the NCAA violation would have occured if they hadn't.

Richt is a class act man - Find me any of the recruiting violations/Rumors that plague a majority of the top programs these days. Nothing illegal going on in Georgia except for Knowshon Killing defenses.
