When quarterback Brett Favre turns in his retirement papers, the Packers will strike $11.4 million from payroll and quite possibly lead the NFL in available salary cap room. Favre has not yet filed his official papers, however, and it's unclear when he will. His agent, James "Bus" Cook, said he had no idea where Favre was in the process of filing the paperwork that would finalize his retirement.

Has Farve ever done anything on time???

March 25, 2008  07:37 AM ET

What's he waiting for, another team to say please don't retire, play for us?
The retirement party is over. The Packer fans mourning is over. Brett, your football career is over.
File the papers, son.

Here she goes again.

Sapp just handed his papers in a month ago after announcing his retirement late December.....so maybe these retiree's like to take their time handing in their papers

It's one of his last real bites at the fame and attention apples.

Let him enjoy a little more drama as he gets ready for his new job as a talking head/casino greeter/card show attraction.

Aussie, Sapp retired the same day as Favre did...

March 25, 2008  08:24 AM ET

maybe theres alot of pages? Theres no deadline right?
would be nice to have the cap space before the damn draft.
and why isnt his agent filing the paperwork? whats he get paid to do ?

March 25, 2008  08:31 AM ET

Has Jake Plummer filed for retirement yet? Just sign the paperwork and send it in Brett.

March 25, 2008  08:32 AM ET

It's probably a hrd thing to do. Saying it is hard, but actually signing the papers, must be harder. It's not like it's the NBA when you can retire, un retire to make a trade happen, not play and be retired.

Let the team move on,

Signed,
Hate to see you go.

And wouldn't the football world be surprised if Brett showed up next in a Dolphin uniform. lol

March 25, 2008  08:46 AM ET

If that happened, 1/2 of Wisconsin would commit Hari Kari

Then we'd all have to get out cheese from Vermont.

March 25, 2008  08:50 AM ET

localboy, there is a deadline as the Packers want his 11M off the cap so they can pursue some free agents and sign draft picks.

March 25, 2008  08:50 AM ET

I'm a Packer's fan. Favre, for the sake of the team, turn in your retirement papers. You made the announcement, just turn them in, cuz the Packers would like $11.7 million dollars more.
