Will Walsh keep Isiah as coach?

Already entrenched as a joke franchise that can't get out of its own way, on or off the basketball court, the Knicks risk even further humiliation if Donnie Walsh keeps Isiah Thomas on board as coach when he takes over as team president. Meanwhile, an NBA source and two Pacers officials confirmed Tuesday that Walsh had a handshake agreement with the Knicks on a three-year, $15 million contract to come home and rebuild the Knicks.

You think they would have dumped him by now, especially after the sexual harrassment court case. Most men would have lost their job along time ago, but this amazes me. Maybe the lady was playing a game and whatever....who knows. I read the fans of the Knicks comments and you think the ownership would read this stuff and absorb it. Is their a manly love story behind Isiah and the dude in charge. Inquiring minds wnat to know.

March 26, 2008  07:25 AM ET

Walsh will obviously fire him like he did in 2002.

March 26, 2008  07:36 AM ET

He'll be gone!

March 26, 2008  07:48 AM ET

NO, why would Walsh fire him? He'd want to keep him as a bridge to all the success the Knicks have enjoyed. You know, a reminder to the players and fans of the Knicks' proud traditions and legacy.

YEAH, SURE!

Question of the Day: Will Isaiah challenge his firing to the league as being unjust and possibly even racially motivated? Maybe Bary Bonds' agent can recommend some good lawyers? Oops, I forgot. Isaiah probably has a good lead on lawyers by now. Sorry, my bad!!!

Isiah is the luckiest man in America...with Matt Millen in a close 2nd. How does he still have a job? What does it take to get fired in the NBA?

March 26, 2008  08:40 AM ET

jj730....i guess getting fired would require the coach, in this instance (isiah thomas) murdering dolan.....but then again i'am not too sure.....

March 26, 2008  08:48 AM ET

i just have to say that isiah thomas has NEVER impressed me, wether on the basketball court or on the sideline, and his OUTSTANDING record with this overpaid bunch of losers helps prove my theory.....THE MAN KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT BASKETBALL!!!!!!!! let me clarify by saying he knows a little more than me, but that's why I'm not a coach....... i am really surprised he is still involved in the game....

March 26, 2008  08:52 AM ET

Keeping Isiah in any capacity would be the mistake since hiring Larry Broww. It is just the sort of thing Doland the dunce would indorse.
The Knicks will never be anything but a joke until he sells MSG.

As his Dad, Chuck Dolan always says "Thansk God he's running the Knicks and not cable vision"

March 26, 2008  09:05 AM ET

All I wanna know is, are they hiring?

March 26, 2008  09:06 AM ET

In the past, there should have been an update on FanNation every week about the Knicks deciding to NOT fire Isiah because every day I am shocked that he still has his job after stupid comments, dumb actions, and dumb trades.

March 26, 2008  09:27 AM ET

if they fire him and trade everyone to rebuild the team does my cable bill get reduced???????

March 26, 2008  10:21 AM ET

Think Mark Jackson as Donnie's choice, a few trades, a few drafts and a few years and the few knicks fans will be able to stop their crying.

March 26, 2008  10:23 AM ET

Isiah's record speaks for itself.... I don't think Donnie Walsh is an idiot.... is he?

March 26, 2008  10:25 AM ET

I have faith that Donnie will do what should have been done LONG ago.

March 26, 2008  10:26 AM ET

Speaking of luckiest men alive, what about the Hawks GM Billy Knight and coach Mike Woodson..... also the Thrashers GM Don Waddell. They've had their jobs for years & have one playoff appearance between them. The only reason they have jobs is because the ownership is too busy sueing one another to pay attention to how bad they suck.

March 26, 2008  10:35 AM ET

If he keeps Isiah, he should fire himself. Who would want that idiot coaching any team? Wonder if Walsh will have enough power to fire the owner. Wishful thinking.

March 26, 2008  11:16 AM ET

Another Isiah story?

Jerry Springer is running out of business, guys!

March 26, 2008  11:51 AM ET

he has lost the respect of the players and i dont think any new players coming inn are going to look at isiah as their leader. the man should just quit.

March 26, 2008  11:58 AM ET

sure why not.....

March 26, 2008  12:40 PM ET

They are actually wondering if Isiah should be kept on as GM?!/?!

Have they taken a look at the roster? Those tattoo's are probably henna (aka they wash off). That is the softest basketball team I have ever seen, tattoos not withstanding!
