Although USC sophomore Taj Gibson announced at the Trojans' team banquet Monday night that he would return for his junior season, a source close to the situation said the 6-foot-9 forward would assess his future over the next few days before deciding whether to make himself available for the NBA draft.

Mistake.

Option 1: Stay at USC and be sure of some playing time
Option 2: Go into the NBA and never be heard of again.

I haven't even heard of this guy. He should probably just stay.

Option 1: Stay at USC for another unpaid year where scouts will be watching your every move
Option 2: Go into the NBA and make a million dollars right off the bat and have a good chance to make more as well.

He had the same decision last year, and stayed. I think he should do the same this season, because he can only improve his stock next year getting more opportunities with OJ Mayo gone.

March 26, 2008  12:57 PM ET

He should go. He is not getting better and if he stays another year NBA teams will notice he has peaked and move on. Also, isn't he 24? he needs to get in the league now or else he will have to retire after his rookie year. He will not get more chances next year at SC because they are adding Derozan to their roster and he is another Mayo (1 and done) ball hog.

In the NBA, he'll be expected to rebound. Whenever I saw him, he seemed averse to contact. And if you can't shoot lights out, good luck kid.

He should stay in school. He won't be a lottery pick. He isn't even the best player on his team.

March 27, 2008  11:20 AM ET

Staying in school is the best choice. To hone skills, to continue any kind of education he is getting and be better prepared for the future. Otherwise he will just be another bench warmer in an NBA roster and bounce arounf teams for the rest of his life.

As a Bruin and Pac-10 fan here's a few words of wisdom for Tan: Aaron Affalo, Spenser Hawes ... lot's of pine time and dirty stares from teammates as you pick up lofty checks for minimal impact and play ... if you want some cash from a 2nd round or NBDL contract, go for it ... otherwise, stay, play, improve and better your overall chances for success at the next level and as a career.
