Giants to host Skins in NFL opener

Posted: Thursday March 27, 2008 06:56AM ET

For their first game as defending Super Bowl champions, the Giants, as expected, will kick off the NFL season in the honorary Thursday night slot. Their opponent next Sept. 4 at Giants Stadium will be the Redskins, with Jim Zorn making his NFL head-coaching debut. That prime-time opener is always slated for 8:30 p.m. but will likely be moved up to 7 p.m. to avoid the telecast running head-on with the concluding night of the Republican National Convention, featuring Sen. John McCain's acceptance speech.

The Republican nomination is a done deal. I suspect the networks are less concerned with McCain's speech, and more concerned with live political convention coverage and the possibility of a fight, shooting, or other controversy.

In additional news, George W. Bush will be taking over as lead commentator for Monday Night Football....

Poppycock......the Giants are more important. I am sick of having these candidates shoved up my rectum 8 days a week, (to quote John Lennon in a obtuse sort of way)

The violence and hard hits involving the protesters and security guards surrounding the RNC could be much more action packed than the football game anyway.

By the way, has anyone ever witnessed a photo of Bush where he did not look like the complete unintelligent idiot he then proves to be once he opens his mouth?

Report Offensive Comment

Perhaps a photo of him having a bowel movement or reading prescription directions would be an improvement Eastcoast.

Somehow I'm sure two organizations with so little in common as the Republican Party and the ownership of the NFL will find a way to broker a deal and make everything work out

I was under the impression that discussions of politics was a no-no on this site ... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr ... lol

Bush looks like a really old monkey.

East coast is right. The RNC is fantastic. It's like the UFC in the streets. We had that a few years ago in philly when the RNC was held here. Again, fantastic. Cops were bashing hippie protestors up and down market street

Hey - I am a hippy protestor. Got my tie die and have not taken a shower in a week...ready to go

Report Offensive Comment

Jim Zorn - what a joke! The Skins fans are in for a long drought and years of suffering - suckers!

Why is it that Eli looks like he got a whiff of presidential methane?

That is RACIST.

Report Offensive Comment

Is it just me, or does Eli look like he'd rather be mugged and shot by a homeless Pats fan???

Report Offensive Comment

I don't know OSO, but that's what it looks like. I suppose New York City would never allow Eli back in the city if he so much as smiled at the president.

Report Offensive Comment

I guess he could be an ok baseball commissioner. What's that? he's president?
**** me.
