Speaking of which, is anyone that may comment on this article, a commissioner in the CBS Fantasy Baseball leagues? I have a question but can't seem to find the answer on their webpage or a contact number to call to inquire about my question either. A 32-yr. old pitcher with a tear in his shoulder...I'm no doctor, but I wouldn't be betting on seeing his jersey for sale much longer.

Thats a bit of a stretch. Even if he does have a tear and requires surgery, and the rehab is a long, difficult process - that means his career is in jeopardy? Sorry, I dont buy it.

Another reason why you can not dish out long term, big-money contracts to pitchers. Those Angel fans who questioned why their team would trade a high-calibre shortstop (Orlando Cabrera) for another front-line starter, John Garland, are probably now pretty happy with that trade. The Angels will be fine on the hill as they have a couple young players in Nick Adenhardt and Dustin Moseley that will get more time on the mound.

The Angels have a great opportunity to do what the Blue Jays did last season. With injuries to Roy Halladay, AJ Burnett and Gustavo Chacin, the Blue Jays were forced to develop a couple new starters in Shawn Marcum, Dustin McGowan and Jesse Litsch, who are now in their rotation.

Regarding Escobar coming back to the majors as a closer, it probably would not work. Escobar was the closer in Toronto in 2002, and while he had 38 saves, his ERA was the third highest of his career and he walked an abysmal 5 batters per 9 innings - terrible for a closer. His numbers by far are better as a starter. He has too many pitches to not be a starting major league pitcher. Get the shoulder fixed and rehab extensively. By 2010, and possibly sooner, there will be a spot for him in someone's rotation.
