Dolan wants Isiah to coach

Posted: Thursday March 27, 2008 07:04AM ET

James Dolan will not stand in the way of Donnie Walsh removing Isiah Thomas as the Knicks' head coach, according to a team source, but Dolan has made it clear that his "preference" is to keep Thomas on the sidelines. As absurd as it may sound, Dolan is not prepared to completely sever ties with Thomas, whose record as an executive and head coach is among the worst in franchise history.

It's Hot!

It's Not!

SAY WHAT????
If Dolan really believes in Isaiah, why is he bringing Walsh in??

Who's really forcing this change, Dolan or Daniel Stern??

In an earlier post, I questioned whether there was any history of substance abuse in Dolan's family. I was being mildly sarcastic. I'm starting to wonder if I wasn't really on to something though. Dolan is a classic "enabler" in his relationship to Isaiah.

Gordon Gecko in the movie "Wall Street" was right when he said:
"A fool and his money are lucky to get together in the first place!"
I wonder if he had Dolan in mind?

Fan Nation,
Question of the Day: What's the difference between Pacman and Isaiah / Dolan??

Answer: Pacman makes it "rain money" while Isaiah / Dolan "piss it away"!!!

This would be funnier if the rest of us didn't have to work for it.

What does Thomas have on Dolan?? Or is Dolan just that stupid????

Report Offensive Comment

Seriously, why is this news to anyone?

Of course Dolan wants Isiah to coach and run the team. If he didn't want Isiah then Isiah would have been gone a long, long time ago. Any reasonable owner would have been pushed passed the breaking point way before now.

I wouldn't be surprised if Dolan signs Isiah to a long-term extension in the near future and then fires Walsh by the All-Star break next year.

You just can't apply reason and logic to this pair.

Dolan, Dolan, Dolan. What about my needs?

Is there something going on between Thomas and Dolan? Am I missing something? I don't think you could put Dolan's brain and Isiah's brain together and make 1 brain! Like I send before you could put a monkey as the coach of the Knicks and it would win more and get more respect from the fans and the players. Now I'm believing a monkey could take over for Dolan also and run the team better!!

Report Offensive Comment

Posters criticizing Isaiah keep referring to the fact that the players don't have any respect for Isaiah. This certainly true. But then when you look at the way these selfish brats behave and under-achieve, it's obvious they don't have any respect for themselves. And if they don't respect themselves, how can anyone expect them to respect their teammates, coach or the fans? Talk about dis-functional!!

I think pwings is on to something. I too am getting a feeling that the heavy hand of the NBA is driving this Walsh deal and left to his own devices the owner of the Knicks would be bring Isiah back next year.

After all, he is the owner and the howling of the press and the fans is just going to make this brat dig in harder. He's one fat kid that is going to show you he is boss cuz his dad said he was...

Walsh is a solid NBA guy, no doubt there, but when he did become "the guy" in terms of bringing the Knicks out of the trash heap? He had a long run in Indy and did some nice things there but it's not like he turned the Pacers into a model franchise. He certainly had plenty of chances/years to do it!

Report Offensive Comment

You make a valid point "pwings". However, let us not forget the words of "Big Julius" in "Remember The Titans"... "Attitude reflects leadership". If Isiah represented competent leadership, I doubt the Knicks would be in the state they are. It's obvious though that Dolan has some serious "man-love" for Isiah.

I want Isiah to coach...somewhere else. Maybe we can convince some of the Knicks' rivals that he really is a good coach.

Report Offensive Comment

Nah. No team could be that stupid. Except the one he's coaching now. Fire this guy, already!

Report Offensive Comment

Dolan is a complete and utter moron. Good thing daddy is rich or this guy would be flipping burgers.

You wanna know what Dolan and Thomas told to each other, while looking in each others eyes?

You complete me

Report Offensive Comment

Damn I'm smart!!! I said this months ago. The hiring of the new GM was contingent upon keeping Isiah. That's why Walsh got the job instead of West or Colangelo. Part 2: the Knicks will suck until Dolan uses some of his millions to buy a set of COJONES

Report Offensive Comment

This is why the Daily News keeps running that picture of Isiah with that smug look on his face.

Report Offensive Comment

Isaiah's record is among the worst in league history, if not the history of pro-sports. This guy did not just ruin a team, but a team's reptuation which took years to build.

Thomas was able to bring down a franchise to low's not seen before... This is ridiculous.

Report Offensive Comment

I hope they fire him when the team finishes rebuilding, he does not deserve any credit for destroying the franchise

Report Offensive Comment

Worst in franchise history? Worst in WORLD HISTORY.

Dolan's an idiot. He and Isiah have made this team the biggest joke in sports.
